old amiga magazines
hi, i saw a thread from 2002 (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...highlight=mags) and people were talking about scanning all there old magazines and making them into a PDF (whats a PDF?) anyway i was just wondering if anyone got round to doing it or if there are any sites with the full mags on for download? it would be great to have a read through and get many great memories back.
thanks Lucy |

Ooh. You've got an avatar! And if that is indeed a photo of you, you look pretty damn attractive too, so brace yourself for the geek onslaught.

I can only find cover scans for the Amiga mags. Zzap!64 is available online, and there are Amiga bits in the later issues, but for specific Amiga magazines, only covers turn up so far. You can type amiga mag scans into google and see what it comes up with. What amazes me is how many of these sites miss how important the adverts are when doing nostalgic pieces. When I bought the Zzap64 disks, that was one thing that surprised me the most. It was loads of "I remember that advert!". I'd like to see scans of The Games Machine. Great magazine that was. |

Another magazine site
Don't forget my magazine guide at Amiga History Guide.
I contacted Future two years ago enquiring about scanning and distributing old Amiga Format magazines on my site. They told me I would need to pay them (I think it was £100 per page) and contact the author to gain permission. This may change over time - they've allowed someone to post scans of Commodore Format. There's a project on a french website to scan old (french) video games magazines. There are no specific Amiga ones, as far as I know, but the generalist mags did test Amiga games, of course.
If anyone is interested (ie can read french), the url is http://magazines.abandonware-france.org (warning, the server is quite slow and it takes a lot of time to download files). |
