Mr Nutz - Hoppin Mad - is not Mr Nutz ?
I got abit shocked today seeing the Snes Version of Mr Nutz , i have always belived it was a direct port from snes/MD to Amiga...
So i'm questioning the Hol entry as it says there its a conversion job. Mr nutz on the Snes doesnt say anything about Hoppin Mad nor is the game simmilar at all except for the name Mr Nutz and that its a squirrel. Mr Nutz is simply great on Amiga but the snes version was just another....plattform game. Take a look guys and please dig out the real story why Mr Nutz Amiga seems so diffrent + much more entertaining. |

Thanks for the info Toaks - I've checked out the SNES, Megadrive and Gameboy versions. They are all based on the same game and different from the Amiga version. I'll update the entry to reflect this.
The 'Conversion hardware' field lists any platforms that a game was released on, so it doesn't necessarily indicate that the Amiga version is based on them. Here are the SNES, Megadrive and Gameboy versions. |

Too bad I didn't check this before because I knew it ever since I played the game first time in the Amiga. I thought the SNES version was so much shit compared to the Amiga version! Mr. Nutz on the Amiga is more akin to Sonic than in the console versions, where the game is more similar to "Mickey's Magical Quest" or another of that type of slow paced platformer.
I wonder which one is the ORIGINAL one? The Amiga one has a more badass look, teh charactr is more badass, teh speed is faster, it's more "agressive" all round. |

good too see you guys agree.
i think its time to contact NEON (they made somw games on PS1 etc...) , it so feels like the Amiga version is the real thing....though why would it differ this much??? where is the badass later lavels in the snes and MD version?? ...no such thing... just plain boring on the consoles... HAIL AMIGA! |

Also there was a cartoon show on SkyOne with Mr.Nutz collecting stuff and the player telling where to go/or control the hero using a touchtone phone. (can't remember which method, or what was the show called)
Afair the game character had become so popular that it was decided to make a franchise of it. |

I believe it was with the phone. I seem to recall having seen it on one of the sattelite channels we had back then.
As for the Amiga version. I always assumed that Mr Nutz was a character, the SNES game was a horrible game (like many games with characters and concept licensed from another place like movie licenses). The amiga game was Hopping Mad which seemed to indicate a completely different game but using the same character. |

I preferred the amiga version too. The SNES version simply wasn't fun to play.

Amiga will never die!

I'll admit when a console version is better than an Amiga version, but Mr Nutz Hopping Mad is a thousand times better than the crappy console version of Mr Nutz. Sure, it's a different game, but it's still crap compared to the Amiga's version. It's a real shame they didn't port Hopping Mad to the GBA instead of the SNES version, because I'd buy it.

I think Chris Huelsbeck did the music for the Amiga version. Is the Snes music up to the same quality level?

There are credits but you have to complete the game to see them. They say:
