8 gig CF card prepped in WinUAE
After buying one of those 4 gig CF cards off eBay ready done with a few thousand games etc, it soon become obvious there is not a lot of room available for you to add much more that you want to build up. So I am saying that those 4gig CFs are ram packed to the hilt. Not good!....
So a friend and I thought about prepping an 8 gig Transcend 133....As he is much better than I am at such matters we are struggling to get an 8 gig prepped correctly as every single game we tried has crashed. So we tried an 8 gig Peak Xtreme which was prepped in Smart File System, but when transfered over to a proper Amiga 1200 its only showing the Boot partition whereas with the Transcend we did at least see Games1 and Games2 partitions but like I said, all games crash. But yet with the Peak card the games partitions are visible in WinUAE. We tried the CF card in both our Amigas and needless to say we had same problems. Has anyone been fortunate enough to be able to prep an 8 gig CF? and if so any help would be appreciated. |

Check especially: "The 7,87GB limit" and "Solutions/Recommendations". My recommendation is to use PFS3DS (or PFS3AIO), it works up to above limit and you don't need any OS patches at all. It works in WinUAE because default "UAE" controller has built-in support for large drives, most real hardware drivers have lower limits without OS patches, most common being 4G. You need to select "IDE0" as drive controller to emulate A1200 on-board IDE (and its limits). |
