Using beta 5 I created a new extended ADF file using the Create Custom Disk button. Then I set that as the disk in DF0: and booted my HDF.

On typing Format DRIVE DF0: NAME Whatever I get a software failure alert. It seems to mostly happen when verifying track 0, but may happen a couple of tracks later. Didn't happen with beta 4.

There was no relevant log output. However next I tried formatting the disk using SuperDuper (with verify disabled). There the emulated machine hung up, and there were several lines like this in the log output: out of event2's!

(Floppy drive speed was set to 100% for these tests, PAL machine.)

Try again with winuae.zip. Non-cycle exact modes can have issues with b5.

Thanks, a quick test (formatting a disk once) didn't crash with the latest winuae.exe.

Probably fastest beta update ever.. B5 is broken in non-ce modes if chipset modes are used. Only RTG worked.

Beta 6:

- Display emulation last horizontal position (plfright) was not correctly updated, caused all kinds of bad side-effects, including non-immediate/non-ce blitter taking seconds to finish.

The NetBSD (4.0.1 and 5.2 tested) AGA X screen has a problem with 2.7.1b6. Problem not present with 2.7.1b4. The top few pixel rows are offset to the right, see picture.

Boot installed NetBSD HDF with A4000 config, login as root and type startx.

2.7.1b1: Problem not present.
2.7.1b4: Problem not present. But note there is a white column to the left of the desktop area.
2.7.1b6: Problem is present. White column to left of desktop no longer present (which is correct).

(All versions have a white strip to right of desktop which should probably be blanked.)

Fixed.

Right border "leak" is also "fixed" but it probably is not correct fix (only affects superhires/programmed modes so at least it won't break anything important), it would need some real hardware testing and I am not really bothered with programmed modes..

Man you are incredible. Yesterday I sent you a PM with my RTG plugin. The Buttons/Start Menu of Magellan weren't working (half images, repeated icons) with 2.7.0, but now they work !!!

Edit: Ejem I was wrong. It doesn't work, but that's because of AfaOS, a problem with its libraries that Bernd will try to solve.

Beta 7:

- A4091 and A4000T NCR53C710 SCSI emulation works now! Now all built-in devices in all supported setups are emulated. I guess last interesting big missing Commodore designed part is CD32 MPEG module.
- Added A4000T and A4091 to ROM scanner results window.
- Added A590/A2091 and A4091 boot ROM selection to GUI, if empty, uses old automatic selection.
- A590/A2091 + Fast RAM: Fast RAM is always first, A590/A2091 second, then other boards (if enabled), now matches real A590/A2091 with fast ram installed.
- HID RawInput had wrong access mode in device open call, failed if other users of same device used different access modes.
- 68EC020 "opcode x has faulty prefetch" triggered too easily when program did stupid things. (It is only a debug feature, it will be gone someday)
- AGA high fetch mode screens with ddfstop near the end of right border were completely blank.
- DDFSTRT limit should go away if programmed mode or superhires (broke in some previous beta).
- Reset horizontal display window if it is still active at the end of scanline (even if it is larger than last hpos value) if programmed mode or superhires. Perhaps this is wrong, perhaps not, not bothered to test yet.. (Background "leak" in right edge in some wide programmed mode screens)
- Accept uaehf.device open call even if ioreq->io.Message.mn_Length is invalid or too small.
- Renamed some protection dongle names in GUI.

Thank you Toni for another great release and a big thank you to Amilo for the hardwork testing all those demo's which helps increase the greatness of Winuae..

Can't offer help as I'm weeding out 150,000 duplicates by hand from my C64 and Atari collections as part of a release, trust me, its as mind numbing as testing stuff, no dupe detectors do what I need them to do so its all one by one..

Yes! Toni, thank you for the newest beta

I've been playing a ton of Amiga on my netbook recently and the latest WinUAE beta seems to be a total blast!

I can't find anything wrong with it so far...

Thanks but you shouldn't notice any difference in most games

"The only virtue with which the man can not boast is modesty. Because if he would complimented himself, he no longer would be modest." Voltaire

(I'm not entirely sure of the correct translation, but it should mean something like.)

p.s.
Dude, you're really incredible, after all the hard work that you've done you're still remained so modest ... indeed, characteristic of a great man.

Ooh yes please!
I thought the sticking point with this though was a lack of hardware documentation. Is this still the case?

No, I already have full MPEG video and audio chip documentation. (Got it 2 years or so ago I think)

Problem is not technical. CD32 MPEG module requires emulation of technologies that have nothing to do with Amiga hardware (mpeg video and audio and output is pure analog, with genlocked Amiga video overlay. Amiga side can't even "see" the video or audio), it is just too different and not that interesting. Ability to play low resolution, low quality VCDs is not really worth the trouble.. (CD+G was much more interesting!)

Some kind of bounty could make it more interesting. (I am serious). I also require working CD32 MPEG module first and I am not going to pay any usual rip off prices.

Plus, I think the only software which used it (that I know of) was Cannon Fodder CD32. Were there any others? Probably not worth the effort to be honest.

Cannon Fodder only

Yes, it is not worth the trouble but it still is the last big missing "feature".

I don't know if it counts as enough to promote coding this final missing feature, but bundled Wing Commander/Dangerous Streets cd had an MPEG (vcd?) version of the Commodore CD32 Advert which only presented it self if the mpeg module was detected.

Beta 8:

- 68000 CE/prefetch mode reads of non-existing memory should return correct data in all situations.
- Reading of write-only register will now write correct data to register. Data that CPU gets back still isn't 100% correct (which can be totally different than what was written to register).
- ROM image didn't load correctly if ROM image was in multiple parts (odd/even) and merged parent ROM was not found.
- NCR SCSI: SCSI commands that failed returned wrong status.
- uaehf.device SCSI Verify (10) implemented. (Does not verify anything)
- A590/A2091 and A4091 options moved to Expansions panel, they are expansions, not built-in features and not part of internal hardware config (advanced chipset). CDTV SCSI is also technicallybuilt-in because driver and DMAC are located on mainboard, CDTV adapter only contains WD SCSI chip.
- A590/A2091 linear ROM mapping was incorrect (Any CPU mode without "more compatible" fetched bad opcode data). Note that A590/A2091 can't be JIT compatible.
- Added "ROM disabled" option to A590/A2091 ROM select menu. (ROM disable jumper is for 1.2 compatibility)
- It was possible to set and get unused DMACON bits 11 and 12.
- A4091 was not compatible with Z3 Fast.
- Hardcoded A4091 autoconfig data was replaced with data from ROM image.
- Border blank didn't override AGA border sprites (broke in some previous beta).
- 68020/68030 SR M-bit should be cleared (if set) before executing interrupt routine.
- 68030 MMU FPU FMOVEM instruction continuation state recovery after bus fault was incomplete.
- Generate bus error when accessing invalid memory if A3000/A4000 Fat Gary based system, MMU emulation active and Gary TOENB register bit is set.
- Joystick/joypad can be used to control light pen cursor. (Was mouse only previously)
- Some kind of physical mouse as digital/analog joystick/joypad support. Not that good but perhaps better than nothing.
- Removed useless address space gaps between Z3 boards.
- CD image CDA player may have gotten confused in some situations if new track was requested while other track was still playing.
- 6888x Packed-Decimal Real with Dynamic k-Factor data type was detected as invalid instruction. Allowed now but k-Factor is ignored (Packed-Decimal Real with Static k-Factor was also ignored) but it isn't that
important, practically no one uses packed decimal data types.
- Some CPU and FPU emulation changes to make it more usable with other emulators (I am working with author of Next emulator Previous to get 68030 based Next computer booting)

Hi Toni again:
Regarding Test Drive II:
If you wait till the end of the intro, all official betas including B7 and B8 make an error.
The strange thing is that when I try the non-official release dated 2014.02.14, which is released between B7 and B8, it runs perfectly.
Please investigate and fix.

"error" is most useless report. What error? I don't see anything wrong when I quickly checked it in warp mode. (Screenshot?)
