Using a gamepad in WinUAE
I can't use my original Amiga joystick right now because I left it at home. I have a gamepad that is very similar to the Playstation 2 pad and it plugs into my USB port. I can't figure out how to use it within WinUAE, is there a way to map the buttons correctly?

Try Joy2key, or was it JoyTokey? a nifty little program that lets you map the joystick to pc keyboard keys. Then those keys can be re-mapped to virtual joysticks in your emulators. Only needed for controllers that have crappy winxp drivers and thus are not recognized by some emulators, though. Or for emulators that would not support joypads or not support re-assignment of buttons and directions...

Remapping can be done using input-panel. (search older threads for more information if it looks too confusing..)
I think most virtual keyboard mapping software won't work with WinUAE because it uses low level directinput mode. Only way to read Windows keys and other special keys without side-effects. |
