When I pressed the guy who "broke the story" and asked for more info about the C&D this is the exchange.

I'm calling BS on this one unless something solid is produced

Yeah, looks like one of those lovely people who's just a little bit too eager to jump on any opportunity to have a dig at Hyperion / A-Eon / OS4. No time for fact checking, too busy rubbing their hands with glee!

@thread

For those that don't remember the history:

3.1 DMCA takedown
Hyperion Entertainment C.V.B.A. detailed reply within.

I'm by no means claiming this is what's going on.
That is for Hyperion to say...or not.

Yes, it is available again for purchase despite the "secret conspiracy and its cease and desist love letters". LOL

It was just an issue with the service.

Time for a thread title change in that case - bit misleading now more facts have come to light.

Cloanto (via their puppets Amino) trying to wreck the Amiga scene again, what a surprise...

Maybe this will at least prove once and for all that they don't have the best interests of the Amiga community at heart, it's just another platform for them to milk money out of. Obviously they couldn't care less about Amiga users being able to upgrade their OS.

"We made the Amiga, they fucked it up" - again... Some time ago I purchased newer revision of the Amiga Forever package despite not really needing the updates - just to support and encourage the development. Now I see how silly it was :/

IMHO anyone willing to purchase OS 3.1.4 should do it now. Not later today, not in 5 minutes, literally NOW! I'm afraid soon the only way to obtain the updates will be from torrents or FTP servers in Russia...

I may purchase it eventually just as support, but I can't see me using it to be honest. It does nothing for me I haven't already got with 3.1 plus patches. In fact looking through the various threads it takes more faffing about to get it usable than I have to do with 3.1 to start with!
That's not to say some will benefit from it, it just seems not me for my use case.

none cant be bought at current time
Just a thought:
Retitle thread to "AmigaOS 3.1.4 withdrawn from sale/restored", which would still reflect the event yet be a more accurate representation of the current status.

Sorry, but I must respectfully disagree. It's Hyperion who is wrecking the Amiga scene. Hyperion filed a lawsuit against Amino in retaliation for Cloanto's lawsuit against Hyperion. This now exposes Hyperion to several "Breach of Contract" claims from Amino which Cloanto could not bring by themselves (e.g. "What comes around goes around").

The fact that Amino has sided with Cloanto on most of the disputed issues speaks for itself. Hyperion could have avoided all of this by strictly following their license agreement. Instead they claimed "Implied" rights to distribute any version of Amiga OS and use any trademarks they wished.
