Set Joystick with config files?

So for ages I have my own A500 / A1200 config files and they both work flawless but what I never got to work is to get my Speedlink competion pro to connect with the configs.
I always have to select it by hand everytime I load up a config file.

Can someone please guide me through setting this up?

How do you configure it or what happens?

Game ports panel defaults or game ports custom config or input panel?
If gameports, wrong device is selected?

Can't help much without more details.

Fire button press when not selected should also automatically select it in joystick port.

When running winuae with Gamebase.
To implement my joystick on the configs, not on my own configs.

Yeah, it is not simple to get "manual" input config because they depend on input config part.

Perhaps it can be made simpler..

joyportfriendlynameX=<device name> should work, even without any input-config entries.

Or did you mean Game Ports panel custom mappings?
