Yep, but the Agnus revision will limit how much chipram can be addressed.

Your question is a good one, though, and I know why you asked it! All the A500/KS 3.1 configs I listed in my post above have been clarified - my A500/KS 3.1 system has 2MB chip + 8375B Agnus (DKB Megachip) and an 8362 OCS Denise (just popped the lid on the A500 to make sure!).

Have you test also the ADF in the zone in your test? (I am curious about the "more compatible" in winuae)
I didn't test your ADF, but I converted the DMS archive in FFS that I downloaded from the FTP server to OFS and, from memory, it made no difference to my results for these configs in quick tests:

(a) A500, OCS, KS1.3, 1MB chip ----> FAIL

(b) A500, OCS, KS3.1, 2MB chip ----> FAIL [see photo #3]

with reqtools.library and powerpacker.library modified too? because on winuae with or without "more compatible" option, the adf in ftp not running on 68000. The FFS/OFS is just for booting on ks1.3x. The ADF on the zone launch the game with 68000 but without "more compatible option" only

As I said before in post #36, despite F1 Licenceware using a newer version of pplib/reqtools than you did in your ADF in the Zone......there should be no difference as they are all KS1.3 compatible.

I can't say why your ADF in the Zone works under emulation with 68000, but only if the "more compatible" option box isn't ticked. That's possibly a question for Toni or one of the other emulation gurus. My interest atm is mostly concerned with what specs are required for the original *unmodified* version of the game released by F1 Licenceware, as the HOL is all about original releases of games.

If we can produce a 68000 compatible version of the game that works on both real hardware and under emulation with KS1.3 and 2MB chipram.....then, obviously, I'd be all for it! I'll try to look into it tomorrow if I get the time, but right now I'm a little fatigued from work today plus all the testing, photo taking, posting about results etc. etc. and I really need to have some dinner (it's 10pm here and I've been too busy to eat anything yet today!). I'm sure you can understand!

000 fix into The Zone!

Please test.

Edit: Just noticed a 1998 version into the zone but actually differ only in wwn.doc (an exclusive licensing to F1 Software).
Main code/data is exactly the same. Fell free to use this complementary file.

From what I understood the "more compatible" option emulate prefetch perfectly (so by activating it the emulation is slightly slower).
In this case, however, the problem is a longword reading from an odd address [move.l (a0)+,(a2)+ where a0 is odd]
So in in my opinion should be corrected in WinUAE.

With your fix, ok for me. The game now loading with or without "more compatible" option.
The minimum are 68000, OCS, KS1.X, he just needs 2Mo Chip

Bravo ross

Awesome work as always ross

...just copied your fixed "wwn" file over to the TOSEC "Willy's Weirdy Nightmare (1995)(AGAS - F1 Licenceware)(LW)[1998 edition][AMOS].adf" and all is working perfectly with a "Quickstart A600 - 2MB" config

Just tested it on A500/OCS/KS3.1/2MB chip and sorry to say that it doesn't work - it produces exactly same result as in photo #3 from my original tests.

Molto bene.....beautiful work! This tested fine on the following real Amiga set-ups here:

(a) A500 / OCS / KS3.1 / 2MB chip

(b) A500 / OCS / KS3.1 / 2MB chip / 68030

(c) A1200 / KS3.1 / 2MB chip / 64MB fast / 68030

It did not work, however, under any A500/A1200 config. here that I tried with only 1MB chipram.....so yes, min. specs required for your fix are 68000 CPU, OCS, KS1.x and 2MB chipram.

Rosario (queste e` il tuo nome - vero?! ), are you able to explain exactly why the game won't work with 1MB chipram? Is it the result of buggy AMOS compiling or something else?! The game reports system error #24 on a black screen here and says to contact the game author to let him know!

So that "technically" is a bug in emulation? In other words, it causes Aladin's ADF in the Zone to work on a 68000 CPU / KS 1.3 / 2MB chip config. under emulation when it doesn't work on the same config. using real hardware?!

It is working as designed. More compatible also adds 68000/010 address error checks. It has always been like this, no more compatible = don't do checks that no normal programs need.

@Toni
An intended feature rather than a bug with a happy side-effect then? Interesting!

Yes, definitely 2MB chip is required.

Not so good usage of the chip ram..

In my opinion yes, but to Toni the last word.

(well, not a bug but a feature )

And no, my full name is not Rosario

It's an absolutely stonking remix of the genre, and entirely worthy of having been written by the great Mr Smith himself - the author should be proud.

Except that bloody garden maze. That can go die in a fire.

This chart may be of help in the maze area. Room# and name are where Willy is. The 4 numbers to the right show where Willy winds up after leaving in the indicated direction. A 0 usually means there is no exit in that direction. Exception is room 1 right where 0 is valid. 0 is the default destination if for whatever reason Willy goes out of bounds in a room.

In maze area say Willy enters a room, immediately turns around, leaves. He doesn't necessarily end up in the same room he started.

(26, We're On The Road To Nowhere) shows leaving right will just keep repeating that room.

Chart showing an exit that looks unreachable (16, The Study) right could mean a switch needs to be thrown. Might build a bridge, grow a vine to climb or something else.

Another tricky one is exit right in (20, The Kitchen) where no right exit is visible. It leads to (173, The Secret Panel). Hard to imagine finding this without knowing it was there beforehand.

This explains why the HOL pictures couldn't be assembled into a true map. Only short runs can be made before a screen overlaps one already plotted.
Code:
Room# Room Name Up Down Right Left

Except that bloody garden maze. That can go die in a fire.
Thank you. I am the original author and it astounds me that there is still interest in my (one and only!) commercial release! I'm pleased that it still brings some fun to people (and I apologise for the maze....and several other difficult screens!).

DUDE!!!

WWN is my favourite Amiga game. My GO-TO for a quick platformer. First game I always install and configure on any device I'm emulating on.

I cannot thank you enough for that game. In a sea of shitty Willy clones, yours stands out head and shoulders above them all. I just wish you'd written more.
