A1200 PCMCIA problem

Hi,

I'm trying to get a PCMCIA ethernet adapter (Netgear 410tx -- known to work with cnetdevice driver) to work in my A1200. When I push the card in the slot after powering on (I'm aware of the reset problem) everything locks up except the mouse; after removing the ethernet adapter, everything works fine again.

My theory is that the Squirrel SCSI drivers I installed are somehow interfering with loading of the cnetdevice driver. I commented out the appropriate Squirrel SCSI lines in S/Startup-Sequence, but that didn't make a difference. I'm a bit rusty on the internals of AmigaDOS driver loading, so I'm not sure if this is enough to disable these drivers.

If I put the card into my other A1200, it does not lock up. Not sure if it makes a difference, but the machine in question has a '030 accelerator. Any ideas?

Did you disable the CD0: device or whatever SCSI device is running on startup via the Devs/dosdrivers drawer? I had problems with my 3c589D card until I took CD0 out of the dosdrivers drawer and put it back into storage and it works fine now.

Thanks, that did the trick. No more lockup. Now on to trying to configure AmiTCP...

Cool

. I only had a quick look at AmiTCP and I didn't like the the idea of it changing my startup-sequence forcing me to log in with a user name and passcode. MiamiDX is simpler and tidier and you can get it's keyfiles on here somewhere.
