Return to Atlantis
I'd love to see a WHDLoad install for Electronic Art's Return to Atlantis.

I can't even get it to run properly, when you click on the 'dive' icon, it pops up with a box asking you to reset and it does nothing!

Kind of odd how it boots up workbench first and then restarts so the game can start. |

I'll try to have a look on that one. I like tricky DOS games which involve resourcing at OS level.
I think that the "DIVE" file is just some trick to make you reboot and run the game with the maximum of memory available, and maybe to stray the debuggers? The protection looks like EA "copylock" (with sigfile file). Can be done Last edited by jotd; 16 November 2008 at 21:49. Reason: started resourcing |

I worked out why, I had Action Replay active, and that does a memclear hence why the game wouldn't boot...... doh!

WHDLoad slave in progress here BTW I could remove the "reboot required" stuff and some other bizarre DOS buggy check and now I am able to see the intro. I think the protection check will be a major pain in the ass, but I have cracked a lot of EA games before, so shouldn't be a problem with the .IPF image. Does someone know when the protection is checked? what are the effects (crash probably?) I have tried lockpicking the game, but it patches disk2 using trackdisk, and the files are unaffected after the patch. Strange. I think I have found the protection code in data files (either LLISTS or WORDS of disk 2) to be followed. Last edited by jotd; 30 November 2008 at 19:08. Reason: Game booting with WHDLoad |
