Hope it works for you AGA boys out there One day I might do an new faster RTG based SDL, that should help the RTG users of NetSurf as well. UPDATE: Well as is kind of traditional, I'm now using NetSurf_AGA to type this update (using WinUAE). It's obviously not exactly fast but on the postive side, at least the site is correctly rendered. I think most of the CPU power is going into deciding what to be drawn rather than the actual drawing speed itself. The colors are still not quite there on some images and I think the animated gifs are really slowing it down (maybe they can be disabled for AGA?). Anyway, top effort Arti, hope you can tune it up a bit more for AGA users and make it a bit faster. Last edited by NovaCoder; 26 May 2013 at 08:59. |

Couldn't get it to run on my 1200/060. When clicking WB says "attempting to load NetSurfAGA", but then nothing happens. If it log errors somewhere, i might have a look.

I assume you have already install the RTG version?
Arti didn't say but you have to install the RTG version first, then copy the AGA file from the Zone into your folder to use it. Last edited by NovaCoder; 14 December 2021 at 00:15. |

Yeah, it works on my 1260.
Some colors are not the good ones, and it's very slow, but all Windows are opening correctly. Good job, need improvements of course but for a beta it's very good Thanks Gentlemans. |

Yes, it works (winuae) with fpu. A pity Ixemul doesn't have a 063 version without FPU.

OK - I would love to try this but am not sure I have everything I need.
I saw Novacoders post and downloaded the RTG version but got an error when clicking on the installer icon (something about could not find the icon associated with the script or something). I have previously tried with netsurf and get this ixemul error about needing a later version? Could someone post me an idiots guide to installing this and what packages I need? Cheers PS -this is to run on a real a1200 with blizzard 1260 @66 and 128mb. |

Grab here ixemul: http://amiga.sourceforge.net/?showpa...ixemul.library
The installer of the Aminet Netsurf version works ok (if not, download it again), but the NetSurfAGA that you must add to the drawer hasn't got an icon, so if you are using Magellan you just have to make a copy of the one of NetSurf (NetSurf.info) to ram for example, rename it as NetSurfAGA.info and move it again to the drawer. If you are using Workbench you can use Dopus for the same. |

Cool video, nice to see it running on the real thing
Arti: Try a non-ixemul build to increase speed, also make sure all of the libraries you are using are buit for at least an 040 and that you are using the gcc -O2 option (if possible, sometimes it can make it unstable). If I were you, I'd also look at disabling things like animated gifs. There is also something funny going on with the toolbar (the word AmiNet just floating there?), I think the status bar might need to be reworked for this lower resolution to fix it. My latest SDL library now supports PAL 640x512 BTW. Last edited by NovaCoder; 27 May 2013 at 08:50. |

Maybe someone could debug the RTG installer script and find out what the problem is? |

I don't know much about NTSC Amiga's, can you still run PAL modes if you use the right monitor driver? |

To disable animated gifs change this line: animate_images:1 To: animate_images:0 To reduce the number of favourites displayed to 5 (AmiNet is no.6) change this line: fb_toolbar_layout:blfrhsuvaqetk123456789xwzgdnmyop To: fb_toolbar_layout:blfrhsuvaqetk12345gdnmyop The s in the above line is not there in the default options file, it adds the stop button, which may also mess up the layout... So try it with and without it. Last edited by James; 27 May 2013 at 13:27. |

Can someone with RTG on a real machine compare the speed of the two versions, not so much page loading, I'm more interested in render speed.

That's not your actual issue but you should do it anyway as it will probably be unstable if you use the wrong ixemul.library. The SDL will be trying to open a 640x480 8bit PAL screen, if it can't open it then it's either running out of CHIPRAM or it's some kind of OS issue. |

Well done Arti.
This Beta 1, gives good colors, and Netsurf window is nicer For speed i think it's the same, but maybe it wasn't your first priority . I will upload another video. Last edited by attila06; 31 May 2013 at 23:31. |
