Atari Flashback joysticks...?

Yesterday I saw this little device which has a bunch of games built in but, unlike most of those "into-a-joystick" retro console remakes, this one is like a mini console with joysticks with cable attached to it. To my surprise I found out the joysticks are pluggable and they have the same old 9 pin Sub-D connector of Atari joysticks!

So I was wondering if these joysticks would work in any system with Atari-compatible joystick ports. Did anybody tried them? They are small joysticks really (seems to me they are made more for the hand of a kid) but I always liked that original Atari model (I have one myself) and these joysticks would be convenient to take to places since they are small.... Also one could use original Atari joysticks with the console, if they are compatible.

Pic of the retroconsole:

Pic of the original joystick design (Atari 7800? I forgot):

Nice, I wondered that myself to be honest.

I still have on of those original 7800 Atari sticks but it really isnt working well these days... another casualty of c64 and Atari2600 decathlon sadly.

It's a mighty fine joystick and despite the new ones looking rather cack and being smaller, they might work well for responsiveness....

Nobody has this hting and wants to try it? Too xpensive for me to purchase and try it, really...

if anyone's interested i've found them in HMV (in the UK at least) - appears they might have an exclusive on it for a while at least.

But at £30 I thought it better to buy a real 7800 off ebay

just checked the review u posted akira and.....

Sadly, where the Flashback fails is also where other TV games have failed—the quality of the emulation of the original system's abilities. Whether it was the rumored short development cycle, insufficient processing power (apparently based off of a NES/Famicom-on-a-chip!) or some other reason, the fact of the matter is these games are markedly different than their original 7800 and 2600 counterparts. The Flashback version of Asteroids for instance, has washed out colors, elongated (almost oblong) graphics and poor sound. Add to this the fact that the player's ship moves too fast and the asteroids move too slow, you have a recipe for disappointment whether you're aware of how the original is or not.

... defo not getting that then, unless it's £2 !!!
