The A1200 and all other AGA-Amigas are 32 bit.

yepp.....

they also used the AGA chip in the CD32, which was advertised as the first true 32-bit processor

The 600 or 500 (or any other 68000 based machine, for instanc) are actually kindof an hybrid 16/32 bits. The processor works internally at 32 bits but outside works at 16.

That's where the Atari St got its name (Sixteen-Thirty-two )

Yeah, the 6020 processor was the first to use 32-bit externally. Here a strange fact. Motorola intended the 6020 processor used in the 1200 and CD32 to be used in washing and videos machines! The cheek!

The 68EC020 used inside the 1200 is a poop 020, I'm not surprised it was destined to be used in such appliances

Those EC-Processors aren´t THAT bad ! There are only a few progs that really USE an MMU, so most games and progs will work on a EC020 as good as on a real 020

EC = "Embedded Controller", a Motorola classification for cpu's that were designed for low power consumption & use in "embedded applications" (security systems, fire alarms, intelligent toasters etc.) Since embedded applications typically didn't sport a hard disk OR gobs of RAM, the MMU was chopped off.

The other problem with an EC 020 is not only that it has no mmu, but the cpu is only able to adress 16mb max... as it only has a 24bit wide address bus. Which is a bit of bummer.
