Purple / Pink flashing on startup A1200

I've had a bit of a search on here, but can't find anything.

When rebooting, long before the kickstart disk screen appears one of my A1200s does this purple / pink flashing sequence.

I seem to remember reading YEARS ago this indicates a hardware problem of some kind. Any ideas?

Unfortunately the link is for the A500 errors, which could possibly be different to the more complex A1200.

Is there nothing on that site that relates to the A1200 errors etc. ?

I haven't seen any detailed info on the A1200 startup screens. I know sometimes if you perform a reboot you will see different colours on startup, i always put that down to dirty ram on a warm reset or not waitin long enough on a cold reset.

You would think after all these years that this info would be readily available by now. Does anyone have the "Bible" for the Amiga ?

Some Blizzard cards do funny colours at boot time which is no problem at all.

This is cold startup, warm reboot. Every time.

Yet it seems to be working fine other than that.

Thanks for your help so far.

That list of errors is the standard kickstart errror colors; it applies to every single Amiga that runs that runs Kickstart, it doesn't matter which machine (A500,A600,A1200,A2000,A3000,A4000) as they all run the same diagnostics.

Now, as mentioned previously, some add-in boards might stick their own diagnostic routines in and flash color codes for that. I'm assuming that the purple screen is the standard Workbench "insert disk" screen trying to come up, which I can guess means that it is having troubles booting off of the hard disk.

@Shadowfire

I belive I remember Toni Willen explaining that fault colour codes only existed for Kickrom 1.3, but were abandoned after that.

I could be wrong though... but i have gnawing feeling....

I had a purple screen crisis after I fitted my 3.1 rom chips on my 1200. Pushing them firmly home solved this, but this sounds different,as mine didn't boot.
