But before that, make sure your PowerBook bears at least 1024 MB of RAM :

Thanks chaps. Wow, I did not think Apple would allow archive.org to host old versions of OSX.

I seem to remember it having at least 2 gigs. It was an old work laptop loading to the brim with stuff.

I have thought of morphOS as well. Would be cool going to a coffee shop with that in tow and people being doubly confused with an old Mac and a strange OS.

Since everyone and their mother have moved to x86 quite some time ago, I guess Apple Inc. couldn't care less for that old piece of junk being posted on the interwebs. As for MorphOS, it's a small community relying on closed source material and PegasosPPC mobos grinding to a halt production if I am not mistaken (there's a French channel about it on IRC related to Amiga Impact, used to talk with some folks there). Quite frankly, people having a waning interest in legacy hardware would be more impressed if you were carrying around one of these dual CPU G5 Power Mac beasts.

The Mac OS X v10.5.8 update can be downloaded and installed from Software Update in OS X or optionally from the standalone installer through the download link given below.

That's about as far as your laptop will take you, in terms of updates.
