How can I exceed the FFS 30-character issue?

I really would like to use long filenames on my Amiga HDDs, but I don't know the simplest way to go about that. Do I need a specific type of HDF, or extra software?

You need a filesystem that supports long filenames like SFS or PFS. The new FFS (not available until release) does support long filenames too, I've read.

Which would you recommend?

FFS from the OS4 classic CD supports long file names, too.

Not only that, but by using it, will probably mean compatibility with future 3.1.4 and Olaf´s new DiskDoctor repair tool.

You could play with FFS-AIO which allows up to 54-character file/dir names. It has enabled "DOS\8" which was partly implemented in FFS 45.13.
