Maybe, can't remember where I got this from... but obviously had to edit the icon i.e. change from a "Tool" --> "Project", add "WHDLoad" and "Tool Types" etc.

So where does one find this?

I see nothing on http://www.whdload.de/ or in The Zone!

Btw, the French and English were installed separately.
If the english translation files is copied during install, some english text will appear in french version even though "enable english translation" tool type is disabled.
Also, don't enable english translation in Fr and Es archives, it's not installed there.

Btw, as a workaround, I used icons from the sequel.

Thanks for this jotd, very cool indeed

Just a question, it's not possible to replace the French title screen:

Also, would be awesome if an .ADF could be created but understand it's not easy.

ah if you want the title screen to be replaced too that's possible.

But ADF, as explained above, no can do with the method used. Doing so would be redevelopping the tools used to create the graphics / figuring out the format.

I'm no graphic designer but was bored so had a play

I used the missing letters from the main menu screen, cut them out, resized, applied the red gradient, and finally arranged:

It's not finished yet as I still need to do: "d'apres une indee originale" and "une realisation".

Shall I continue or do you have an easy method?

Used Google translate, are these French to English translations correct?
d'apres une indee originale --> according to an original india

une realisation--> a realisation

Sounds a bit off tbh, Foogle-Schmoogle translate.

I'm not french speaking, but how about this:

Based on an original idea by
Evryware
Presented by
Microids

?

Hold on, should I try to update:
  • D'apres une indee originale --> Based on an original idea by
  • une realisation --> Presented by
...problem is I'm missing some letters so need to work out which the font has been used.

Edit:, also I left it as "The Art of War" as that's what the French / Spanish Amiga versions say; but I could adjust using the DOS version or something:

Here you go:

Note: I also slightly moved the text down with the image posted in post #69.

Great job! The title screen looks even better with "ancient" in it, but I think Sun Tzu wouldn't have called his book that. (He probably didn't consider himself to be ancient)

That aside, I suggest using the longer title, if that's what the English version of the game is known as on other formats.

Thanks fractalsister

...I wasn't happy with the spacing or the width between the top / bottom of text and the border so have adjusted:

@jotd; if you are happy with this one then I'll try to replace "d'apres une indee originale" and "une realisation"

Phew, I've now completed this task!!!

Wasn't easy, for the remaining text I had to create letters "B" and "Y".

Anyway, here's the final product:

I also centered the "Evryware" text in the red area.

I think it looks pretty cool; even if I do say so myself
