Floppy disk Slow performance on Windows 10 compared to Linux

FS-UAE 3.02 eoan: 68040 NOMMU (JIT), UAEGFX, Tocatta Soundcard
Ubuntu 19.10, CPU governor on-demand
OS3.1

custom flags:
uae_cpu_speed = max
uae_fpu_model = 68882
uaem_write_flags = nhsparwed

On Linux I get around 1000 Mips in Sysinfo and everything is super snappy.
On Windows 10 with the same WB and config it's around 350 Mips.

That should be plenty of speed, but Eagleplayer stutters and Dopus chokes on large folders.

I had async gfx/sound in demos and much lower scores on Linux before I set the flags. I suspect that FS-UAE on Windows doesn't use cpu max speed, even when it's set.

But no idea. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi, I believe the problem is that the way fastest-possible mode is implemented in (released versions of) FS-UAE is flawed. I have greatly improved this in the (unreleased) development version, so most likely the issue will go away soon.

That's great news. Thanks for clearing that up.

Add your Amiga partitions and folders to the exclude list of the Windows Defender or any other malware protection programs. Otherwise Defender checks every file access in the background and causes slowdowns.

That's a good tip. Windows is offline and I thought I got constant drive access and other shenanigans covered by disabling everything related to network, indexing and virus checks (except cortana, which refuses to be disabled). I just checked again and the "realtime protection" was re-enabled automatically.

You can disable Cortana and Defender realtime protection:
Attached Files
File Type: 7z Cortana_Defender.7z (484 Bytes, 31 views)
