A space 2d multidirectional scroller
1. Possible name of game
Something to do with Mutations, or viruses, or Amoebas - in space. 2. Game genre (General) Arcade action. 3. Game genre (Specific) The playing area was a confined rectangular area and in each level the player had to leave a central base to retrieve something/or flick some switch, and then make it back home. The challenge was to avoid the amoeba-like antagonist which would take a different unique form in each level - sometimes it was a large green cloud; sometimes a long worm; sometimes a scrolling line. 4. Viewpoint Multi-directional 2D perspective 5. General dates I first played it no later than 1991 6. Commercial status No idea. 7. Other specific info The player could take pot shots at it and sometimes this would break the thing apart into fragments. The gameplay was in avoiding the antagonist and reaching the target switch which would often deactivate it. |

No, not Amnios
No, the action was set against a starfield backdrop - quite plain. And in each level there was only one kind of antagonist to avoid.
It was like a big ASCII art cloud, sometimes blue, sometimes green, sometimes made of crosses, sometimes diagonal lines, but it would move like a big search-beam. Thanks for trying ! Last edited by dabbler; 19 April 2010 at 16:20. |

That was the first place I looked. But can't find it. Graphics wise it was unremarkable, but I had not seen this type of game before. Great gameplay.
I think the player (in a triangular space craft) could deposit mines (or obstacles) to blow up the parts of the antagonist that would come into contact. Thanks for your suggestions. I'll keep on searching... |

Could it have been a PD game? So i´m not sure about that multidirectional view, i have one game in mind which had a side-view perspective.

It may have been PD - I only played it on a friend's Amiga so I don't know.
The view was top down on 2D game play. The *scrolling* was multi-directional. I have just checked this thread: Cody Jarrett's Splendid Top 20 Shareware/Freeware/PD Amiga Games http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=2715&page=2 but it doesn't show up. Thanks for the suggestion. |

It was more like Transplant than Blaster.
In addition the playing area wasn't endless -it was large, but walled off. Thanks for your suggestions ! |

No, that game was released later. The one I'm thinking of must have been released before 1992. It must have been a demo/cover/PD since I cannot find it in any of the data bases I've looked.
Thanks for your suggestion. |
