IDE Interface info needed

I have this interface in my A1200 Tower, i want to move it to my new 1200 desktop.

Just curious what the PCB with the gold sticker is?
And what is the purpose of the cable from going from it to the IDE interface?

Thanks Mike!

IDEFix-Express-adapter. Gives you higher transfer speed than just the IDEFix.

This interface is the excellent IDEFIX EXPRESS by Individual Computers.
Actually there is a normal Idefix adapter (the one with the buffered IDE interfaces) plus the extra cable that goes to the Gayle adapter (the one with the golden sticker) that is the express adapter.
This really boosts the speed of your IDE drives!

Awesome hardware my friend. I have it too

Excellent!

Do you know if i will need to cut or possibly even remove the metal shielding to fit it?

Changed it over and working OK.

I removed the whole shield but now find that placing the IDE and CF adapters is going to be more difficult. Think i will cut the shielding above the gayle and leave the rest in place.

Done some testing and there seems to be not much use of IDEFIX express without an accelerator fitted. What would the drive speed be if i got the 1230/56

Code:
           |Cold boot| DH0 speed | ATR WHDload
BASE | 9.01s | 1,358,259 | 12.07 s
BASE + IDEFIX| 8.79s | 1,492,280 | 12.02 s
ACA 1230/28 | 5.97s | 2,412,368 | 6.62 s
ACA + IDEFIX | 5.96s | 3,727,165 | 6.96 s

There's no need for that at all, it will fit nicely.
