It lacks MMU too, so... 68EC080 is the most correct. Most software than can deal with such also identify it as 68EC040, from what I have seen.

There are full featured Cyclone 5 boards for around 100$ ...

My standalone candidate:
  • Cyclone V (110K LEs)
  • 1GB DDR3 SDRAM
  • 1 Gigabit Ethernet
  • USB
  • HDMI TX, compatible with DVI 1.0 and HDCP v1.4
  • Three 50MHz clock sources from the clock generator
  • Two 40-pin expansion headers
  • One Arduino expansion header (Uno R3 compatibility), can be connected with Arduino shields
  • One 10-pin Analog input expansion header (shared with Arduino Analog input)
  • A/D converter, 4-pin SPI interface with FPGA
Here for just 130$!

And it got a 800MHz Dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor on board:
Use it as coprocessor to watch videos, or to run a full blown web-browser.
Or use ist as FPU-Coprozessor...

So how much is a license of the apollo-core?

And this is totally adult and mature way to calm down the flame. Not provoking at all.
Well it must be since the mods have left it be.

So whenever someone writes something in support of Apollo team we will call him a minion, and ask what he got from Gunnar.

And if someone criticizes Apollo we'll call him.. let's say henchman and ask what he got from Jens for ruining his competition.

Don't forget to spit at members who are banned and cannot reply. That's an extra bonus.

Did I get everything right? This is the way to go?

I'll bet Jens is enjoying the reprieve from being a target like vampire is right now.
Soon when he releases a major project it will be his turn.

what the heck is wrong with critics? i'm sure gunnar is mature enough to withstand this.
but if you fool your (future) customers, you have to listen to them.
and not name them crying babies, looking for some candy they will never get - and make a joke from that demands.
so think again - we have the right to express our thoughts, even if it hurts the devs.

this has nothing todo with insults or hatespeech.

You have every right to criticize. I even give you the right to insult me to your heart's desire. I can take it.

But the quoted post was no criticism. It was plain flaming and insulting a man who's down.

Now look at it again and tell me it is the way to go and communicate here.

Additional use case of the mentioned Cyclone5-ARM combo:

Imagine an "reversed" Janus_UAE
You run your AOS3.1/WB an the Apollo and enjoy AGA+ and let run AROS on Arm in parallel.
Start a web browser via Janus on AROS and a window opens on your WB - fully integrated, but using a 800Mhz core (with FPU).

I definitely would love such a board with this feature.

I'd love to see a standalone at that price! If the standalone will use the same FPGA, I don't see how it couldn't run on that board as well. But I'm silly like that, so I suppose it won't

if we are going into semantic - you will allways run in political incorrectnes.
the big trouble started, when the minions flooded into the board - yes minions.
i wont do it, but you may look for urself - prior to this, the discussion was on a level,
the admins had no reason to came in and pull LARTs.

#1) ok, at least there was grond with his crybaby statement ...

Maybe we should listen to the Admins, and put the tone of the debate on the level they/he wish for?

I'm not a big fan of political correctness. And as I mentioned already you can say to me whatever you want, I won't hold a grudge.

But you don't kick a man who can't defend himself. Period.

And if you think all Apollo team supporters are minions, and are payed (in hardware) by Gunnar, then by that logic you and other critics are payed by their competition to criticize the Apollo team. See how silly that sounds?

@Overflow
Yes we should. But then there's no place for provocations on the personal level.

i would've perfered to write a line about Gorf's fpga board,
instead debating again with the Lord, but i felt the need to do it the way above :/

Yes - I think it would be wise to go for such a board and take full advantage of numbers and price, instead of designing a custom board.
Things like mouse/joystick ports could easily be added through a adruino-shield (compatible connector for shields is already on the board)
What else would you need for a standalone?

Take a look at your own posts man.

Djole overreacted and got banned.

After that, you posted how Djole is a minion who gets hardware from Gunnar for posting here.

Now besides the fact that this is a blatant lie and slander, it is topped by the fact that he cannot speak and defend himself. And you took the advantage of insulting a man in such position.

No matter how heated the debate gets - we don't do that.

I am suggesting this board for real.
I am quite sure if I would order 100+ I would qualify for the "education" price of $99.
So how difficult would it be to adapt the apollo-core for that?
I assume it would have to talk to the ARM side for USB and network and probably use the display-buffer of it as well ... but that would save LEs in the end.

Maybe someone (other than me) could ask Gunnar about it?

Primary apps seem to be SysInfo (for posting screenshots on Facebook) and WHDLoad+A500 games

But I guess you mean after that That's tricky even for normal accelerators where most of the Aminet packages and libs are patched and working. Render with Real3D maybe? At one point there would have been a use for word processing/layout, but paper is gone today.

Basically you can, and have always been able to, do all the normal things on the Amiga as you do on all other computers: drawing, composing, writing, programming. So it's sort of like asking, "I got a brand new laptop. It's good. Now what do I do on it?" The answer is, whatever you like to do

I don't know about web surfing, but a Plipbox should work? With a compatible TCP/IP stack. I have one but I'm not actually using it. I like that my home computers *don't* have a web browser to be distracted by

I saw someone removed the framerate cap on F1GP(?), Stunt Car Racer and 2 more A500 games recently, if you want to try those. Stunt Car Racer looked fairly unplayable though as reaction speed was fractioned and gravity was Jupiter gravity

Or try some demanding thing like a high level language or MusicLine (if the V2 is compatible)?

Exactly. It's too bad that it goes in this direction. This is why I replied to OP and skipped the fuss.

Jupiters gravity is only 2.3x that of earth if you are on the equator. So it is not that bad
