Multiple devices
mornin ....
im expecting delivery of an A1200 this week, with a 1gb ide drive included, however my question is this .... as with all 3½ ide drives fitted in miggys, they use a 2½ to 3½ cable (from what i remember from 15+yrs ago), looking at the cfc adapters, do these use the same cables or are they 2½ to 2½? im looking to installing a cdr/dvdr drive, but unsure as to whether to stick with the 3½ drive instead thx in advance |

There are IDE-CF adapters in 44pin (2.5) and 40pin (3,5) versions.
I prefer 44pin as you don't need a separate power cable. Didn't bother with a cdrom on the a1200 either, a CF HDD plus a PCMCIA-CF to transfer files from the PC is all I need. If you go for a cdrom, you should know that longer cables (>~30cm) require the use of a 'buffered IDE interface'. |
