Have you switched to the RGB? On the other side, some Sony TV sets got problems with some scart cables. I had a similiar problem too (pale color, low contrast). But i got a another cable with 150 ohm, this one works fine.

Scart connector in tv is RGB if that is what you mean.

Is your TV set auto-switching to the RGB video signal, i assume that? You need another cable when it's not working. The cable isn't broken, only a bit "incompatible" to some Sony TV sets.

As far as I know the Amiga does not supply current on pin 16 (AKA blanking pin).
Some TVs need this to switch into RGB mode on the SCART automatically, otherwise they will stay in composite video mode, which is also possible on the SCART.

I'm not totally sure about the Amiga not supplying this voltage, so you better check for yourself! I know my old Amiga 500 didn't do it. The cable worked fine in RGB mode with my CM8833 and with another monitor (neither needed any signal on the blanking pin) but not with my first SCART TV.

Are you sure your TV is set to SCART/RGB?

Also, it could simply be broken, so if you have a multimeter or cable tester, try checking the cable.

This is a well known Sony problem. Try another cable, this will fix it. It looks like you got a cable without a switching voltage on the pins 8/16

So the Amiga 1200 does supply this voltage on pin 16?

I would think that if the problem was simply cable resistance he would at least get a faint image?

Yes, i'm a bit surprised too. He should see a least a faint image. Maybe it is a cable for a 1081/1084s monitor. This one needs no switching voltages.

I had the same problem with my CDTV and my JVC TV - just a white screen. I tried another scart I had lying around and it gave the same problem. So I gave up and used RF

I just got an RGB scart lead for my Amiga and it gives nothing but white when I plug the cable into the composite scart connector on the back of my tv.
When I plug into the RGB enabled scart the picture sometimes rolls and has wavy green lines across it, which is a shame as apart from this the picture looks nice and crisp and colourful. I'm guessing the signal is too weak as I can just about make out some ghosting of the words "no signal" running up the screen as it rolls.

The Amiga has +12V and +5V on the video port, so yes, it can supply the blanking and switching signals to the TV.

(just made myself an Amiga to RGB Scart cable yesterday)
