Amiga 2000 power supply

Hi all

I need some advice regarding the power supply on my Amiga 2000 - it does not power the motherboard. The fan does start (but it doesn't seem particularly powerful). The output voltages on the 12v and 5v lines are very low. The inside of the power supply appears to be in good condition with no obviously black or burnt parts. The capacitors don't appear to have "bulged" either.

Does anybody have experience in diagnosing faulty power supplies?

old power supplies are relatively easy to fix. first change all the capacitors.
if that doesn't fix it you can start changing other simple parts like the switching transistors, diodes etc. if one of the switching transistors is blown then it will almost certainly have taken other parts with it, such as diodes. there may be an IC or two in there too that controls the switching and feedback. all the parts are common off-the shelf and available to buy at many many places.
do the caps first then use a multi-meter to look for shorts on transistors/diodes. google info on how to test transistors/diodes if you don't know. there's nothing particularly complicated inside the A2000 power supply. simply look for a shorted part or parts and replace it/them.
but replace the caps first.

My A2000 PSU was dead and rusty, so I've recently transplanted an ATX PC power supply inside the original A2000 PSU casing, with an adapter cable and a new 80mm fan. Works perfectly, looks original.

I have the internals for an 220v Amiga 2000 power supply (No case for it). Should be fully working if someone wants it. Took it out after I built an 486 DX2-66 into an Amiga 2000 case =)

Easiest if you're in europe of course...

my A2000x5 have broken PSU many times and it's every time dead caps
and when this happen they make silent clicking sound when PSU try to
start but fail that's why fan rotate slow and speed up mid clicking

The broken capacitors - do you mean the two large ones or the four small ones?

those what blow first are connected directly +5v and +12v lines
16v 25v caps but there is no harm to chance them all

Two big ones are Hi-Voltage caps and when those go you will see & hear it
or just smell...
