Anybody want NEW 68 pin SCSI HDD ?

I found a place which sells new/unused fujitsu hdd stock. They have 9gb/18gb NOS drives. I ordered a couple for myself, if anyone's interested let me know. They also have 80 pin (SCA) stuff.

I think $50-$60 shipped (I'm not sure how much shipping would cost right now)

I have always loved SCSI,

but i am tihnking of getting a IDE to SCSI converter on my next miggy project... that way i can have the independent controll of the SCSI (freeing up my CPU) but not the incredible ear bleeding whine and price of SCSI either.

mind you, you can get 16GB solid state for under £80..

hmmmm... ponders.

That's what I did to my A3000 a few days ago.

Got rid of that nasty damn thing called scsi UW drive, and placed a WD 120G on the internal scsi bus. Together with the new Antec fan for the PSU, it is now the quitest machine in the room (it was the loudest one by far).

Pics:

I got the converter for 40 euros shipped from ebay. Works like a charm, but for scsi-2 only.

would this work too with a IDE CDRW (ther IDE-SCSI converter). I am having trouble finding a CDRW that will fit in the damn A4000 casing!

If you're talking about the yamaha one, yeap, this is actually what they were intented for. It will fit perfectly behind a 5 1/4 device, where it actually goes a bit over 2-3 cm on the left on an 3 1/2 disk.

Swap loud fans for quiet ones (mind the CFM rating however) and swap your loud HDs for modern quiet ones.
