Scsi/cdrom Problem

Hi, I'm new to the board and I have a problem with my Amiga 1200.

I have searched the forums but I cant find a solution for my problem.

Ok, here its is...

I have a SCSI interface card (PCMCIA) its a squirrel classic as far as i know. Connected the the card I have a CDROM.

I want to use the CDROM, but it wont mount.
Has anyone any ideas???

Do you mind pasting here the contents of your CD ROM mountfile entry? So we could further analyze the prob.

It might also help to tell us which CD drive is that you are using!

Ok, I would do that but...

I should have mentioned I am sort of a newbie.
I know the basics, but there alot I have no clue on.

Which file would the entry be in and what should it say?

Oh by the way the drive shows in the scsimounter app.
it says on unit 4 MAYSHITA CD-ROM CR-504-j

OK then try this: go to your System partition, and double click in Devs. Then on DOSDrivers. See if there is a CD0: icon in there.

If not, then go to the System partition, double click on Storage, then on DOSDrivers. CD0: SHOULD be there if you installed all the tools properly. if it is, double click it. you should be able to access the CD now.

To make the CD available from startup, move this CD0 file from Storage/DOSDrivers to Devs/DOSDrivers. I'll automount at startup.

Of course I am assuming the squirrel tools have made a mount entry for the CD with the name CD0:. This name may differ on your setup.

Yer its in there but when clicked on it says...

Could not find some of the following keywords:
surfaces, blockspertrack, lowcyl, highcyl, device.

I have also tried clicking mount in the SCSImounter but that says
error: Invalid rigid disk block. (thats with a cd in)
error: Device not of required type. (thats without a cd in)

Hmm... seems like your mountfile is not properly created...

In which dir was it stored? Id like to see its contents.
If for example it is in Devs, you can do:

type devs:dosdrivers/cd0

That will show you its contents.

I'd like someone who has a SCSI CD drive to step in, because there's a point where I won't be able to progress any further :P

What kind of CD did you insert? You should try with an ISO9660 type, you can't read a Joliet unless you install a joliet filesystem.

I managed to find out what ws wrong.

As i viewed the cd0 file i noticed the unit number was 0, when it should have been 4.
