Is there a Guide for setting up MiamiDX with Netgear MA401?

Hi There,

Been doing lots of searching today as my MA401 is here

There is lots of info in different posts but I cant seem to find a guide, is there a step by step guide out there?

Or should I just buy Easynet from Amigakit?

Steve.

MiamiDx works fine with the MA401 and has a setup wizard, run miamiinit first and it's pretty self explaining.

If not i'll write a step by step guide for you.
Don't forget to grab the Prism2 drivers off aminet to run the MA401.

Hi Philophus

I've got and installed the Prism2 driver and have just grabbed the card reset patch as my first attempt WB hung.

I'd appreciate a guide if thats ok? It would be great to sticky for future reference

I'll have a proper go after the North London Derby

Thanks or your help.

Steve.

Great North London derby... OK I'm kidding, I'm an Arsenal fan and it looks like any remote chance we had of winning the league has just gone up in smoke...

Anyway it would be great to get a step by step guide if Philophus gets a spare moment to scribble one down for us... although I have a wireless card I await the arrival of my A608 to really set this up on my A600.

Hey Peter!

Its much quicker and easier then I expected, but maybe I was lucky... Once I got the WAP Key right MiamiDX found all the IP/Subnet Mask/etc settings automatically then it was just a case of importing them and hitting 'online'

Then it just worked!

At least it was a screen shot from Aweb - took my mind off the score for a minute looking at how the Amiga browser handled the page...

Thats the low graphic version of the BBC site, found the browser really fast and very useable with text only or low graphics sites, for example the mobile version of EAB is great to use, really fast and clear even on my 030

Can't wait to try browsing with the CV64 & the Apollo 040

Yes, that set up should make browsing a better experience - I like Aweb but I think I finally opted to use Ibrowse when I had my Tower set up (Voodoo and 060) - it was pretty fast but of course it struggled with a number of modern websites.

Nice one

Sometimes DHCP doesn't play nicely and you have to put all the IP addresses and subnet settings in manualy but it always seems to work with the MA401's.

Ibrowse is definately a much nicer browsing experience but it can't be registered and keys cannot be had...but then Google's your friend there.

Cheers, I was really pleased it worked out automatically as I've lost the password for my router and can't get in to check all the settings! I know I can just reset it but that means setting up all the port forwarding for the Xbox & PS3 again!

I'll write out the steps I took to get it to work with my settings, I'll do that later tonight and if there's anything to add let me know?

Unless you're planning on writing up a complete guide?

Thanks again, you pointed me in the right direction without that I'd still be looking at the screen blankly

Steve.

Do you want me to see if the seller I bought from has anymore? It was brand new, sealed. I won the Auction at £3.20

Else just keep a close eye on ebay as I have been for the last few weeks till a cheap one comes along, there are BIN's at £15 but I hate paying over the odds for stuff (well except for my Apollo 630 but thats the only exception)

I would have happily paid £10-£15 for one but seeing your other thread that you only paid £3.20 I don't want to spend much more than that now, hehe.

If you wouldn't mind asking the seller that would be great.
