Jumpy video issue in WinUAE 2.3.3 windowed mode

Hey,

My first bug so forgive me if this is out of place.

In WinUAE2.3.3, I have an issue of the graphics being a little jumpy when in windowed mode compared to full screen.

I run the desktop at 50hz as well as the full screen mode and is easily reproducable in demos with a scrolling starfield. The fullscreen mode is smooth as silk, but when in windowed mode (with the same resolution) it seems to skip two or three video frames quite randomly. About once every two seconds, but sometimes more or less frequently.

Is this a known issue? Is there anything I can provide to help track it down? I'm using Direct3D for drawing, and the same occurs with DirectDraw.

Cheers.

Hi, Hope Lotus is going well..

In 2.3.3, in the Display options window, you will see an option for Buffering. Select Triple Buffering. Also, next to Native:Window you will see another pulldown menu, select AutoVSync or Low Latancy AutoVSync. Finally make sure the refresh rate is set to 50hz PAL. The latest 2.4 release should fix some of those bugs (Toni is always working hard on this, in all modes). Hope that helps.

I have figured that when "Aero" is enabled using Windows7, there's some kind of lag when using Winuae on desktop, but screen tearing does not happen like it happens in fullscreen

Use of 50Hz desktop does not guarantee anything. You need to enable new low latency vsync, normal vsync won't ever work in windowed mode.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I made the mistake of posting this from work. I'll try this out when I get home and report back
