How to run Warhead?
I have downloaded Warhead from Back 2 the Roots and have difficulties to get it to run in WinUAE r8.22 and WinFellow.
I have used the specific configuration advised by the site (see blue text below) but to no avail: "68020 CPU, No Slow Mem, use 'Match A500 speed'! This is the original version and only this one works." Has anyone managed to get the game to run? If so, can he/she provide some screenshots and/or configurations of this game? |

I got it to work ages ago, but typically I can't remember how I did it.

Hurrah!
Nice screenshots, Cody. May I use them for my Amiga Reviews site?
I have managed only once to get to the titlescreen of the game. I will try out several configurations... |

OT:
Do you think picture theft will be a problem for HOL, is there something you can do to stop:-

- Direct linking prevention on our pictures is already active
- Now if people whish to use our screenshots for their own website (on their own webspace), no problem, just please write your sources. (a little link should be cool) |

But in the end, should people steal our scans, etc. there's not much we can do. In reality, we stole them from the creator to scan them, so what goes around comes around, I reckon. What we will NOT do is to deface them with logos and the like the way other sites do. That's just lame, IOHO...

Stop! Wait! The only situation when I would use someone else's screenshots is when I cannot get a game run correctly or cannot find the ADF. This is the case with Warhead: unless I find a working configuration within a couple of days I'll put the screenshots on the site.
In most occasions I play the game and put the screendumps on my site. Also, the ingame-screenshots are sized much smaller (200x125 pixels). If the HOL-team insists mentioning the source of a resized leeched screendump I will do it. |

I wasn't refering to you at all Tim, I was, of course, just making a general comment about the people who do steal pics, direct link and other stuff

Tim,
I admit this game isn't easy to configure. The tips in the BTTR info are very known to me, because it was yours truly who sent them. (Originally Warhead was declared AGA and given the config "aga30" in the list, which is quite improbable for a game published back in 1989. ) Config attached. In any case, this game SHOULD NOT require KS 3.0 (A1200), but currently it still does... [EDIT] A500 test (thanks Toni!) revealed that this BTTR version of the game does not work on a real A500! Unlike the original, you can't play this version with merely 512 kB total RAM, and you require an 68020 (!) to be able to boot it. BTTR says it's an original - it's not. Warheadz
@RCK and Ian,
I have to admit I used some screenshots which were originally posted at EAB - Problem is that I cannot recall exactly which ones. Nevertheless with the next update I will put a link to EAB and/or HOL at the mainpage because it is my main source of information for game configurations, ADFs and screenshots. @Andreas, I'll try out the configuration tonight. Warhead is one strange ADF. I think the version at BTTR is a revision by someone to make it runnable on AGA machines. |

Toni did it again!
Warhead ADF version (not the one from BTTR though!) will work 100% perfect in next release, 0.8.26, with a bog-standard A500 config!! However, you must apply 'cycle-exact'; otherwise you can't get correct sound effects / synchronization in flying mode. Last edited by andreas; 12 April 2004 at 02:11. |
