apollo 1230 mkIII question

Anyone know if this card would fit in a standard desktop A1200 if it had both memory sticks installed?

It'll fit but beware of software compatiabilities.

What do you mean by both sticks?

He means 2 ram sticks.

The pic he gave only shows one simm slot but you can have 2 on it. They are not flush with the board and are fitted at an angle so there may be issues with them fitting in a desktop a1200's trapdoor slot without protruding.

I've not got one so I don't know, my blizzard's ram sits flush but it's still a tight fit, I'm not sure if this will stick out or not, someone here must know

Yep, it's possible to fit RAM to both slots and still put inside the A1200. I should know, I had two.

The first one burnt itself out within an hour. The second one was so unreliable that I didn't use it, and eventually off-loaded it with my sorely-missed pair of 600s and dozens of Amiga mags.

My apollo board is fine and I'm glad I did not avoid it.

Good for you. Do you run lots of WHDload games on it?

I have not tried too many games with it yet. But are apollo's really that bad? I thought all 060 were unstable untill you applied timing patches to the A1200's mobo.

Edit: this tread is about the 030 so I think my apollo 060 has nothing to do with this afterall. My 030 is a so called taifun and is unrelated.

This A4000 apollo 060 is fine... the memory however is picky even when I used 4 identical 32 meg simms! The A1200 across the room has a blizz 060 with a scsi expansion and a 128 meg simm plugged into that and it has no problems with heat or whatnot... so I'm sure you'll get your two simms in there good luck!

follow this link for some interesting Apollo reading

also, I've run whdload games and ordinary games galore on this desktop and never had any premature endings... I'm a legit registered user if that makes any difference...adios

The A1200 Apollo 060 was an abomination.

Yes maybe it's just the 030 version we are discussing.
