the future will be like on the 19 century era...horses and oxcarts the world lacks energy and petroleum to maintain today's style of life btw, do you have calculated how many energy is necesary to move a non invented flying car? do yo have imagined how dangerous can be that flying car for a normal user? do you have imagined how sickly to the human can be a virtually reality set? |

The whole becoming sick issue has probably something to do with the balance organs getting confused, they should find something to trick them in being 'naturaly' stimulated but I guess there isn't much demand for a virtual reality experience of gaming nowadays. |

![]() Try to sit next to you TV. And I don't mean next as on the right or left side, stick yer nose directly to the screen, and try to focus on the action. Headache would be the easiest symptom after half an hour. Quote:

right...a super brilliant lcd screen very near your eyes confuse the whole human body...I think it's the main problem and can't be solved also.... non-natural movements of your head up ,down, left, right trying to shoot enemies or trying to recognize the scene cause a severe stress on the neck bye |

I just remembered another one, the Sega Gigadrive! Segas super secret project that would kill nintendo, feed the hungry and solve world peace.
I guess that's why the saturn started off as a good 2d system The VR problem of headaches/puking can be mostly be solved, the basic problems is pretty much the same as seasickness. Motion not being consistent with what we see and the brain interprets as the actual motion. That like the flying Car is more of a practical limitation on how much you can spend on hardware and environmental laws. |

In the real world 3D scene the eyes can change focal length many times a minute as you look at things around a room at different distances. In VR it is a fixed focal length. Some work was done on focal length for video games, they realised (something that most people knew for a long time!) that you need depth cueing for a realistic look (i.e. things in the foreground & background need to be out of focus). But it still has a fixed focal length. It would require a camera or something to monitor a person's eye and change the focal length appropriately. Or perhaps some new 3D monitor technology that could emmit light in such a way that the eye could focus naturally. There was this hard limit known as "66 minute limit" that was the maximum length of time anyone had been able to use a VR simulator without puking. I'd have to check but I think this limit probably still exists today? Last edited by alexh; 20 April 2008 at 14:36. |

Back when I was playing my A500/A1200 i never really thought about what was happening when Commodore flunked it. I do remember think that someone would buy up the Amiga brand and that there would be bigger and better things to come. Sadly it never materialised. Somone more gen'd up on here could tell me if this was or is still a possibility?
