Winuae hdf options

I intend to create a hdf image i can write back to a cf card for real use

Few questions

1.i notice that if you use a hard drive or cf card that you can create an image from it is this the preferred method?

Not had much success with this.

2. I also notice this https://www.vware.at/winuaehelp/lib/harddrive.png

Surfaces

Sectors

Cylinders

Could i get away with that also

Not much info so: either bad USB adapter or you don't have enough free disk space.

Can be ignored. Only drives before IDE/SCSI have physical geometry.

1.Am beginning to lean on a bad usb reader which is ironic as had an sd one fail a few months back.

But to give you more information

I create a empty hard drive image file using a cf card which had been cleaned by diskpart
Issues i was having are in this thread.

2.Thanx

Will get back to you on tuesday on this

First thing i need to do is follow your advice and Test by creating same size HDF image (use dynamic mode to keep physical file size small).

It looks like there are bad by design (noname?) USB adapters available for purchase. They seem to work with FAT drives but mysteriously fails when something else does (smaller? larger?) transfers..

Jut to answer and show you the one i was using

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Integral-Co...s%2C168&sr=8-8

I also should state that when i was creating the hdf from the cf reader sometimes it would stall or take hours
Other times it would be done in 10 to 15 mins

After searching i see u recommend kingston - transcend
