I guess the Aspect Ratio is derived from the Image Proportions, like 4:3 or 16:9, right? |

the 1.7778 results from the 16/9 equation. this will be set by the program. |

I just read that there is no need for the Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) to be other than 1.0 when the playback media is digital and can display pixels as 1:1(rectangular). This is needed when the playback medium is an analog (D1) or has another pixel dimension.
There is also an option called Square Pixels in the drop-down menu that sets this automatically to 1.0, so you don't have to set it to Custom if you only use 1.0 as PAR. I wonder if this can be used as a Post-Processing correction... hmmm... |

the square pixel, does the same, yep
I guess i simply changed the resolution in the past, while PAR was left to its default value, NTSC/PAL. |

It had confused me in the beginning as well, I thought that since I live in PAL-broadcasting region that D1-PAL was the correct value, hehe!

Such a great community!
Thanks for all the tips, and explanation guys, very appreciated. @emifan Aspect ratio shouldn't affect lens (fisheye), and as Muadib said, to be safe, always keep it to "sqare pixels" or 1.0, and you should be good whatever res you're using (if your using 800x600, you'll get 4:3 aspect, if you use full HD 1920x1080 you will get 16:9 aspect). At least, that's how it is in every other 3D or compositing software I am using. I guess, LW shouldn't be different. I see from your screenshot that your lens is 18mm, witch is very wide lens (close to the fisheye), and with wrong aspect ratio, indeed it can look very similar to fisheye. I personally very rarely go bellow 24mm. I've heard that 35mm, and 50mm are mostly used lens for the films, 24mm for the wide shot. Above 50mm for some very close shots, or even macros (when recording bugs). One more thing to notice, the wider the shot the less depth of field. For the wide lenses (like 24mm) there shouldn't be dof almost at all... for more then 50mm there should be pretty much dof. Btw great image. Great composition. Thanks again all... I'll keep asking |

Completely different ballgame then, all the onscreen renders possible would be low res approximations of the final output stage. EDIT: Looks like old school 35mm and 70mm will be around for a couple years yet, despite the extinction of cinemas that can play them (in the USA at least). http://www.in70mm.com/news/2017/matters/index.htm Last edited by Pat the Cat; 11 March 2017 at 15:49. |

just updated my scene with a romulan warbird and lensflare.
it's done now with film size: 65mm super panavision. i guess this is what the lensflares should look like, round, not egg-shaped good source for some StarTrek/Babylon5 objects you can find at trekmeshes.ch (some obj too big for lw5) and lightsource-3d.com (some downloads do not work anymore). the last one hosts the Babylon5 - Intro Sequence, worth a render Last edited by emufan; 12 March 2017 at 22:14. |

Great pic Emufan! I love the perspective!
I didn't know of these repositories, thank you so much! If the meshes are too big for LW5, just cut them into smaller parts and load them under a Null. Another repo worth visiting: www.foundation3d.com Has some good BSG stuff, too! arty: Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk |

yep, the scene looks not so bad; but the warbird is a bit shiny, it's a 3ds model, conversion is not perfect
foundation3d has some really cool objects, but another website you have to create a login. well, worth a shot. in the early days i made an attempt to create a SR71 out of a bluepirnt, was terrible |

Vampire v4 cybergfx plugin help?
Has anyone got the cybergfx plugin to work with the vampire v4. Do i need to install cybergraphics drivers to use the plugin or does it work under p96? When I open the cybergfx v1.2 app it doesn't let me select a screenmode. I have used mode pro to upscale modeler and layout screens, but when I load the cybergfx plugin, I get the error "cybergfx prefs not found. Any help will be much appreciated
