Sam And Max
Hey
I am trying to get Sam And Max to run on any version of Scummvm on my miggy. Specs are: A1200 bliz 030 64meg ram workbench 3.1. (All info is in my sig) The closest I have come is with Scummvm AGA which plays the game with corrupt graphics. Speed seemed just fine. Does anyone have a how to on getting this game to work? Maybe I am wrong and it just won't work at all fully. Cheers @Alexh I know I can play it on my PC |

hiya,
Is that my build of scummvm AGA? Looks like it to me. That version only (just about) supports DOTT (it's very old) and won't run Sam & Max I have actually got the latest version of scummvm running on AGA but it's got some nasty memory issues that are preventing me from releasing it. |

I actually think it is your build yes. Are they really bad memory issues? Hope they can be fixed, scummvm is an awesome project Fingers crossed and good luck. PS, Any chance I could test it even with memory issues? Cheers |

That's strange, the version I uploaded to the Zone has no problem with the graphics in Sam and Max on my AGA WinUAE setup (it even plays Full Throttle). Can you upload some pics of the graphic issues your having with it?
Also, what is the speed and screen tearing like with this build on your 030? It's not speed optimized yet but for something like the full throttle intro it will only get about 10% quicker. I've still got to get the double buffered code working so it will 'tear' a bit at the moment. It might even be your copy of Sam and Max, you can download a new demo here -> http://www.lucasfiles.com/index.php?...8f9ff4dcf75ad6 |

OK, graphic glitches are exactly the same as is my 2nd post. It seems to be a tad bit slow and does have screen tearing on the intro. I can see the two characters and they move fine speed wise but with a black background. Now I understand when you say it could well be my sam and max. But the demo download has no 000 file to load? My sam and max has a 000 file but from the demo it only has .exe files. (version of scummvm always looks for 000) Am I missing something and there is away to convert the .exe files to 000? or maybe its as simple as renaming them. Your DOTT runs fantastic on this machine. Thanks for your help |

Hiya,
That can't be right, are you sure you're using the exe that's in the Zone? It should look completely different to the old version of scum, it now has a nice orange gui when you start it and is labeled version 1.2. I've uploaded a Sam and Max demo file to the zone for you to try, I've tested this with my ScummVM AGA exe and it works fine (without any graphical glitches), unfortunately this demo doesn't feature the intro though. |

Really sorry about that. Love the GUI on this, my sam and max runs ok with this one as well. It is a little bit slow but I know you said its not fully setup. I had no screen tearing at all. I did have one issue, I only had a black pointer for a cursor instead of the proper game one. I was really happy to see Sam and Max working on the miggy. I knew it was possible Is there any other list of games that can be tried just for fun? Thanks very much for letting me try this. I am stuck now, do I play through Sam And Max or do I wait for a final release hehe. Also re the memory issue, I lost 1 meg after quitting out, is this what you mean? Thank you again |

Hiya,
Cool, I knew it would be something like that No I think (touch wood) that I finally managed to fix the memory issue which was causing it to hang when you quit from the dialog, loosing 1 meg is pretty much par for the course. This is a really early build, so there is a lot missing BUT there is a lot of potential there. I'm glad to hear that it doesn't tear, next version should be a least twice as fast BTW as I've just discovered something interesting The mouse pointer isn't implemented yet. Try full throttle, actually wait till the next release and then try it again Last edited by NovaCoder; 31 October 2010 at 02:36. |

ooo stop teasing
I really want to try Full Throttle like you said but I think I am going to hold back and do as you say I really look forward to the next test. As for now I think I might have a good go of Sam And Max (if wife lets me). I do have one question. Will any of these support Discworld 1? Thanks again |
