Chucky, really respect the length of time and process(es) that go into this , especially sanding down the PCB (hopefully a dead one, but not too dead that it ends up a bad trace! lol). And of course the work going into then using trace, how do you get this precise so that you don't make the wrong size board? I'd love to understand a little more about that if you don't mind sharing with us all. IS THERE A GROUND IN THAT ONE!? lmao!.

Wow! Anyone know if the PCB will fit in the Checkmate 1500 case? I am waiting on 2 of those bad boys!

Plan is first a 1:1 copy with only INT2 as change. (and optinal onboard leds as.. I like it so

)

this I will do like 5 pcbs of. to test that all is working.. THEN I will do a new version. I think I will have either SMD or a SMD+Throughhole hybrid for passives. and SIMM for memory. Also maybe add composite+svideo from the reamiga.

it will have the same footprint as A3000 motherboard so Checkmate should work if it works with A3000 motherboards.

Although the A3000 was a beautiful design, the RAM ZIF sockets were a bad choice, The only other Cards using ZIF Memory (that i know if) were the Comspec RA1000 Memory expansion Cards.

The Checkmate guy needs to make some cases specifically for Amiga 1000/4000 and maybe 3000, ideally something close to replicas. I get that he was probably trying to support the widest range of motherboards possible but really A1200.net have A500/A1200 cases covered and ATX motherboards aren't exactly short of housing options. It'd be great to have brand new cases for big box Amigas.

So looking at the video, the goal is to clone the PCB, not to reverse it back into a schematic? So you can make new PCBs that are identical to the original ones?

The schematics already exist. Are you aware of or concerned about inaccuracies in the schematics?

The schematics are well understood though, so all the issues have been found now.

I'm just trying to understand the goal of the project. Is there a shortage of A3000 motherboards or something? Or is it just for fun?

Personally I enjoy doing layouts. It's quite a challenge to do by hand with such a complex board.

Can't speak on Chucky's behalf, but at least to me the importance of this is to have a stable replacement for those machines that have been too badly hit by battery leakage.
