Can't fit picture in screen

Hey folks,

I'm new to Amos and I'm trying for the first time to load an image to a screen using 'Load iff' but it keeps telling me that it 'can't fit picture in current screen'

My screen was 320 x 207 (screen open 0, 320, 207, 16, lowres) and my image was the same but after I got the error I increased the screen to 350 x 500 just to make it big enough but I'm still getting the same 'can't fit' message.

Am I missing something?

I did save the image file in Paint Shop Pro as an Amiga Iff and I have been warned that might not work but Amos seems to be seeing the file fine but for some reason it think's it's too big.

Thanks, any help will be appreciated!

Try with an Amiga iff image to be sure or use dpaint for example to generate your image.
Maybe your image do have higher colors than your screen.

Thanks for the reply.

I opened the image up in Personal Paint from Workbench and saved it as an ILBM Iff but I'm still getting the same message although the screen colour has changed. I tried changing from 16 colours to 32 but no joy.

EDIT: Solved it. When I initially exported it as a .PNG from Paint shop pro I didn't decrease the colour depth to 16 before saving. I though that converting to an IFF within Personal Paint would have done that but I guess not.

I would stick to Amiga programs for a start. This will cause less trouble, for sure.

This is true.

I like to do my fine editing on Paint Shop Pro though and I need to get my images from the Windows environment to the Amiga one.

Just a shame DPaint doesn't read .PNG or .GIF.
