Help - I need to build my own A4000T case!
Like a year ago or so, I got an A4000T (CBM) motherboard, cpu board and various daughterboards (for SCSI, floppy etc) dumped in my lap. Since then I have been planning on kicking some life into it, however for that to become reality I need to get a powersupply (easy) and - a case to build it into!
My current idea is to use masonite, the hard composite hardboard that was often used earlier in various electronics... radios and TVs etc. But I thought I'd ask here first - what would you use? Also, anyone got measurements, or better yet, CAD drawings of an A4000T tower? What would really kick ass, was if one could get some company to build cases for old amigas (and why not ataris, C64s etc), kinda like how http://www.clearxbox.com is doing for the gameconsoles. |

I think the A4000T uses a more or less standard AT case and power supply. You should be able to dig up one without too much trouble, although large AT cases are somewhat harder to find than the more common baby AT cases.

@kolla:
Am I right in thinking you intend to make an A4000T replica case from scratch? If so, all I can say is: If not & you can't find a real one might I suggest you keep an eye on fleaBay for an old server case - A SUN or *gasp* a Mac Quadra tower may well do... ...something impressive with a retro feel to it. or A suitable modern PC tower, well made and 'classy' rather than 'flashy'. This? or This or This for instance. |

How about something like The Lupo for example, only for amiga motherboards. My first goal however is specs and sheets. With sheets available for anyone to download people can build themselves cases from cardboard, plexiglas, plywood or whatever. I will start myself by making measures and drawings of the A3000D and A4000D next week, if I find the time |

I'm going to be no help on the subject of A4000T case specs but speaking as someone who has been comprehensively modding all sorts of computers & their cases for years my hat goes off for starting from scratch.

The Amiga Tech A4000T case (and the CBM case as well, only the front bezel is different IIRC) is an Enlight-6360 case... I tried googleing that and it doesn't give much info... but maybe you have more luck

However, I just realized something that people have sort of hinted at - the A4000T motherboard _is_ AT formfactor. I didnt know that, I figured it was custom, like the rest. Found it on wikipedia |
