One is working on 512k machines, the other requires 1mb+

I guessed that, but what are the differences (if any)?

Probably the 1mb one is an early version to meet the publishing date and the 512k one is a later revision to make sure it has a wider audience.
Besides: how on earth should we know...? We did not write most of the games nor do we have any time to play them.

I wasn't asking CAPS directly, this forum is readable by most!

I have played the 1Mb ver and it seems same as the Classic Crack, I'll play the 512k ver and see if there is any difference!

Furthermost I got was Mission 7 Base 6. A friend of mine got to Mission 10 Base 9, it felt like a competition!! I see you have got past the infamous bug problem of Mission 2 Base 3. Brings back alot of memories does Captive. A superb game, which I have also started playing again. Damn I need to be faster...Where's a Super Booster or Cannon when you need one. Just remember to watch out for the Flying Lizards, Black Trolls & ED209's. Hmmmm....and who can forget those Space Station levels...get those deflectors up quick!! I always thought those silver droids on the space station looked very similiar to robocop.Have you found any differences between the 1mb & 512k yet?

- Hillsy.

PS: Happy monster killing.....Damn Mini robots!! One of the best games!!

Very strange indeed!

maybe no visual changes...

perhaps some optimized code which runs the game more stable or faster...

Maybe it fixes the Bug on Mission 2 base 3 (mentioned above) basically a code you need to open a door is in fact behind the door in question!!!

Ok, I've hunted this thread down & been recommended to ask you bippym.

Do you know of which version of Captive I should be accquiring with regards to avoiding the uncompleatable level? And/or how do I get round the unobtainable code? Does this all make sense?

There is no way i'll ever play that game again!. I loved it back then and i still love it now, but it will just suck me in too much and i wont get ANYTHING done!. plus 65,000 missions.. arrggh..

My favourite thing in that game though, was buying better body parts!.. that was a great feeling!.. lol. I cant remember how far i got with that though, all i can remember is the name Tindron!?.

But what i do know is that i got insanely far in the game.

really must play this one day, hear nothing but good about it

To me Liberation is more appealing from a atmospheric point of view i must say but it's only ever Captive mentioned it seems

What's Liberation like in comparison?

Liberation is missing *that* somthing that Captive actually has!

Captive is a little tricky to get into but, as the name says, once that you do, you are forever captive!

Clearly a great game, simple yet complex, different, yet familiar! you could spend hours on one base, or just a handfull of minutes, the choice is pretty much yours
