Installing AmigaOS 3.9
I'm about to buy AmigaOS 3.9, just wanna give it a go and see what's been improved (my last OS was 3.1 which I used/abused till 1998, year my Amiga hardware died). Just wonder if it takes a previous 3.1 installation, if so, I might have to hold out a bit as I can't afford both 3.1 disks and the 3.9 cd ATM, if not, please let me know it, just a lil info about it

And the OS3.9 installation simply updates your WB3.1 install if you choose to install OS3.9 to your WB3.1 partition |

So that means I can choose between an update for 3.1 and a full install?

I've never managed to get the emergency disk working with my cd-rom drivers...and I'm too lazy to find out why it't doesn't work so I always install WB3.1 first and then cd-rom drivers so I can install OS3.9...it goes pretty quick too. |

Is already possible to make a full installation of os 3.9 over a current wb 3.1 install. I have done it always and doesn´t get any error and works perfectly, and it is done without the rescue disk.
Just go for it! |

The emergency disk isn't created "on a previous OS3.9 installation". That's nonsense. You first create an emergency disk on whatever OS you have now. Then you boot from the emergency disk and can choose between upgrade and full install.
You can install OS3.9 from your running OS, but you have to do it twice because if OS3.9 is not already running, the installer does not copy the icons correctly. That's why it is recommended to create an emergency disk first, because it boots into OS3.9 without installing it. So with the emergency disk you can test if OS3.9 is running on your Amiga at all. If the emergency disk does not work, you should not overwrite your existing installation with OS3.9 because it will not work either. |

Read what thomas has said!
Create the 3.9 emergency disk and boot it up! If it works continue with your install.. if it don't work then OS3.9 won't work so don't continue!! |
