Boot Bong on 4000T

When I boot my 4000 desktop I get a bong. Should I get the same bong on my 4000T? I don't so I am asking. Both are WB 3.1

Thanks

Your A4000 desktop probably has a Picasso IV graphics card installed with a Concierto IV- sound card. Concierto makes a bong sound when the machine is booted.

No Picasso, no sound card nothing just plain 4000 Desktop and I get the bong. So I figured my 4000T would have the bong but no bong

Never got a "bong" on my 4000 desktop. Definitely not normal if the system is stock .

Nope, my A4000 doesn't bong either

I suspect you have something installed in your A4000, have you looked in the case?

Yes, I just built it brand new from parts. 4000 case and power supply, motherboard, floppy, 4GB CF, and SCSI connected to my Warp 040, thats all and when ever I boot I get the bong

Is this a fresh install on the harddrive. There may be an app called in the startup that creats the sound? Noner of my 4000's nor my 4000T bong.

The bong sounds before the the operating system is even loaded. It bongs right a few seconds after you press the power button

Bong where? You ca hear bong on audio amplifier+speakers connected to A4000 motherboard audio output or you can hear bong inside A4000 case (might be SCSI HDD setting-up heads)?

what kickstart chips do you have on board ? is the "bong" sounds like the Amiga 1000 boot sound ?

I actually thought of that too But I don't know of any hacked A4000 kickstarts with the A1000 boot sound in it... It'd be cool though!

It's the PCB flexing and resonating against the internal case metals. After a while it'll be more of a crackling sound, and later still there will be flames - which due to their nature will be hot enough to melt the casing and ignite anything flammable nearby.

probably

The bong is heard on my 1084s connected to the audio out of the 4000. If I disconnect the audio from the monitor no bong.

Ahh, that's ok then, it's just your speakers that are going to explode.

D.

Might be some sound issue when powering up? Never heard of any A4000 going "bong" at boot...

There's still the possibility of a funny Kickstart being in there! Maybe you can dump the Kickstart and try it on WinUAE to see if it still happens on there too?

The mystery deepens...

I think it's the warp engine making the bong.

DarrenHD,

Good thought. I will take out the Warp and put the 040 back in and see if the bong goes away.
