Abandoned Places II

OK, I have Abandoned Places II.

The problem it is, it is not cracked, and it does not work on a real Amiga 1200.

I have a crib sheet for the protection, and a patch so that it works on AGA, but a cracked AGA version would be even better.

Can anybody help with this?

Maps for this would also be of use.

Thanks for your time.

OK, bonehead that I am, I forget to look in PlanetEMU.

Cracked by Paradox, but will it work on a 1200.

Also what install disk 5 do I download?

There are three versions I am in the UK.

Forget all those versions and download the original version that was deprotected and released to the Amiga community by it's author Istvan Fabian himself.
Afaik it is the only 100% working version !

Get it here:

http://ap2.caps-project.org/

...and enjoy a great RPG game !

Hey thanks for that link, it was a version with the in game
protection removed thst I was after.

Have you downloaded this yourself?

I only ask because the Zip file seems to have a bad CRC error, luckily
it is on the AP protected disk version files of the archive.

Cool

It seems there is a 1200 version or rather there was a 1200 version, anybody know where this can be found?

Also, still searching for maps etc.

A great pity to read the tale behind Abandoned Places 2. Never played the full game myself, only the demo version from "The One" magazine's covermount, but it wasn't too bad. Furthermore that death scene music still rates as some of my favourite Amiga music, perfect death scene all round.
Somewhat similar to what seemingly happened to the Rowland Brothers on the C64 following Creatures....

As you can read in the readme file there is no A-1200 version, but there is a JSP patch ( and I think also a WHD patch ) to make the HD installed version work on an A-1200

No 1200 version, hmmm, there was but, read on, from the site itself.

There was NO A1200 version of AP2. A1200 took off (or better started) when AP2 was released, and we did not have preliminary or sales A1200 equipment to develop on. However, compatibility could have been easily fixed at the source level, if we’ve had the right equipment. They should have again get in touch with us - and possible pay our money due - to get an A1200 ready or better an A1200 enhanced version done. Needless to say, that was out of question for them, so they again hired someone (maybe the guy hacking the installer…) to reverse engineer and crack the kernel system of the final product and make it A1200 compatible! Someone must have spent an awful lot of time understanding at the code level what the kernel did – maybe it was not properly working after all, I honestly don’t care… We first saw the adverts of the A1200 version probably in Amiga Format adverts, then got hold of a pirated copy to find out, that they really got a game published by them cracked! So basically the A1200 version was "officially" pirated - you can’t say that about many commercial programs…

Thanks Overdoc, I have the HD patch and it does work.

I would like to get hold of that 1200 version though, it seems it did exist.

Hmm, maybe I don't understand right, but I think this 'cracked version' is just an A-1200 compatible version, but no real A-1200 version with AGA grafix and such.
But I will ask Istvan about it.

Thats it, my fault I think for the misunderstanding.

It is a hacked version that works on the 1200, not AGA enhanced.

Ahh! I didn't realise the archive was broken! I will fix it asap...

BTW, did you email us about this?

Interestingly enough this corrupt archive has been downloaded 100's of times - and nobody has every told us about it!!

Yes, any A1200 version is a hacked version - and may fail some of the internal protection check (there were many). So if you use it - and find that you cannot complete the game or the game gets very very hard then you know ICE didn't *CRACK* it properly.

So István must have read my e-mail, even though he didn't reply. A little while after having read this here, I had e-mailed him about the broken archive.

Hmm, he didn't mention it to me... Perhaps he is busy.

Or maybe you used one of his old addresses? Due to many crappy email accounts (alexro.hu & freemail.hu I think) he now uses one on the caps-project domain & I don't think he checks any others very often.

Please private msg me the email you used, and I will update you on the new one if it is wrong.
