Bomb'X - Seriously?

I was just looking through Atari ST game screenshots (to try and figure out why so many of them look "cutesy") and I saw the following title screen and I couldn't believe my eyes!

http://hol.abime.net/4376

Aside from Strip Poker, I think this is the first time I've ever seen an "adult" Amiga game treated as a cutesy cartoon title! I tried the game itself, I can't tell what I'm supposed to do, but it seems my weapon is... jizz.

The irony is, I don't like most Amiga games as it is because they look gaudy and cartoony, but to find smut like this sprinkled amongst them is embarrassing to Amiga owners. But oh wait, ST and PC owners had this as well.

And, look here, the creators are French. Why am I not surprised?

I see all the time in Amiga demos, being developed as they are by randy teenagers for the most part, but not cocks like these examples.

I haven't played a lot of Amiga games. Luckily, today, I discovered HOL and found out how useful it can be with the screenshots and general info.

I also discovered how brilliant the RAM Disk is on Workbench: I've been able to download demos and games, temporarily extract and run them to the RAM Disk and see if I like them or not, and when I reset the Amiga, the extracted files on the RAM Disk has disappeared. Extremely useful, I don't know why I never used this aspect of AmigaDOS before.

I intend to explore a lot more Amiga demos and games now I know this.

You've never noticed that big "Hall of Light" search box in the top, right of EAB?

Or people constantly linking to HOL in various posts?

...where you been living; underneath rock or something?

Truth be told: "Hall of Light" does not really scream "Yow, this here holds a gigantic index of Amiga games", ya big meanies. The only reason I tried it out right away is... well I am naturally attracted to halls of light. There, I admit it.

I meant I've heard of the Hall of Light for years now (although how can it be light with some bad games?) but I only discovered about clicking on the little game pictures to see zoomed versions. I don't really know why I haven't known this, as the Amiga Magazine Rack is a favourite of mine and it works very much the same way.

I always wonder how big the market was for this particular kind of adult games. They can't have generated nowhere as many sales as the nude poker games.

Yes, I remember there used to be collections of extra art for Strip Poker, in various bundles of floppy disks.

Also, I don't want to come across as a prude about this thread, but I thought we could use it to discuss other adult games? There are many more for Amiga than I thought, and I'm wondering why I'm even surprised.

It's like one of those video tapes that you would pass around, before the internets came (no pun intended)

If you think that's bad, you should try the game Berra.

May it be a light for you in dark places, when all other lights go out.
