Amiga Gotek Problem

Hi,

I just purchased a Gotek USB drive from eBay, and mounted it on my Amiga A1200 and then 500 as part of my troubleshooting effort. Basically, I'm getting a "Nor" message whenever I insert a USB thumbdrive. The buttons don't switch numbers, and then numbers never appear. I've tried several thumbdrives and each had the SELECTOR.ADF file along with other .adf files. I tried to update the firmware, but keep seeing a 005 message.

I don't know if the unit is defective or not, and i feel i'm doing something wrong. Does anyone have experience with this problem?

I also recommend you update to flashfloppy - here is everything you need to know:
https://github.com/keirf/FlashFloppy/wiki

Once you get it flash properly (read read and read some more it's not difficult, just precise) then you'll know the state of the GoTek.

The wiki does link to steps but I found this video to be a particularly helpful alternate guide to do the firmware upgrade and do the OLED (smaller display recommended) and speaker mods

For some reason goteks that are positioned at musical keyboards are sold cheaper than ones targeted at computer users even though they are the same thing, I guess there's more retrobucks to be made...
