Cheers for the assist RF, your method worked great.

Thanks mate. As I've told you I will try to help any other by Pm to have all the Sierra games I've commented (14) running with the MT32 sound. 14 is much more than the 3 working ones of Wikipedia that I found when I started, it taked me some time to make them work -with very small changes- and I've recently added one more to the list from a video on youtube; but they will be much more even if we can get ScummVM support.

I can't imagine a Monkey Island version on the miggy with Roland sound... fingers crossed

Monkey Island with MT32 support would be brilliant!

I've got a real MT32 so SCUMM VM support is kinda irrelevant for me - personally I was less than impressed with the various emulators I heard demoed on YouTube and so I bought the real HW.

scummvm mt32 emulation is not good not really accurate
but dosBOX + munt or a DOS patched version with MT32 support are fantastic, makes obsolete real MT32 real hardware

btw, I was trying on winuae some sierra games like police quest 3 and Castle brain
in both I modified resource.cfg and copied mt32.drv to gamedir but not worked, the game asks for a file named 1.tap...it can't found it

ScummVM shouldn't sound that bad. It uses exactly the same source as dosbox taken from the Munt project.

Is there a way to run these games in an NTSC screen mode so that the music plays at the correct speed?

All the games run in DBLPAL for some reason?
Would like them to run in standard NTSC so the timing is right.

Anyone?

Btw, if anyone is having trouble with getting the MT-32 to play nice on a PC/Mac via a cheapo USB-MIDI adapter, (eg not getting the messages from Sierra Games etc on the MT-32 display, sounds not 100% right etc), grab a Roland UM-ONE Mk2 USB-MIDI adapter and you'll find everything works perfectly!

Im even having it work perfectly on OSX 10.9 and Windows 7 running DOSBox via Parallels! Previously I couldn't even send SYSEX patches to the MT-32 and emulate General MIDI and when stopping playback reverb effects would just keep going, now everything works perfectly!

So now I have my Amiga's and my Mac working great with my MT-32.

But it seems expensive http://www.ebay.es/itm/Roland-UM-ONE...c18efae&_uhb=1

BTW I'm wondering if Novacoder the Master has started his greatest improvement on the ScummVM AGA that we all are awaiting: MIDI support though the Roland on the real thing .

Yeah it's not cheap like the YumCha units, but it works 100% and comes with proper drivers for OSX and Win7/8.

Wonderful. Don't forget to buy the rest of stuff; cables and midi adapter.
Also here you've got a manual http://www.queststudios.com/roland/docs.html

Yes thanks, I've been using your links

So far I've brought the Amiga-to-MIDI adapter you told me about and a 5 pin MIDI-to-MIDI cable, now I just need to get those audio out cables.

I'll have a play with it when it turns up and see if I can get it to ouput some MIDI tunes then have a look at adding MIDI output to ScummVM

Not sure how hard it will be to add MIDI to ScummVM, no promises at this stage.

I only can promise you that you won't forget the first time you play any game with that great sound, or also that you will try hard from then on to add that MIDI option you mention and that we wait. Adding midi support to ScummVm there could be much more playable games with the Roland.

I was always very impressed with how good these games sounded via the GUS MT32 emulation. Has anyone ever owned both devices and if so how do they compare?
