Amiga 1200 wont find floppy

I have an amiga 1200 that wont detect the floppy, I have checked the cable is the correct way around but nowt, any ideas guys?.

have you tried another floppy drive ?
have you checked the caps if they are leaking ?

You'll have to give us more information to go on, e.g.

Is the machine a Commodore A1200 or Escom (Amiga Technologies) A1200?

Is the floppy drive in question the original drive? If not, has it ever worked properly in the Amiga, or have you recently fitted a new/replacement drive?

What is the maker and model of the floppy drive?

Does the drive activity light illuminate at all?

Does the machine boot to the hard drive with the floppy drive connected or does it hang? Does it boot to the insert Workbench screen if it's a floppy only machine, or does it hang?

If it boots to the hard drive, does it fail to detect inserted disks?

youve either got a dead drive(easy to test in another amiga)or a dead cia chip(39178-01)under the floppy cable,harder to fix but can be stripped from an a1200 or a600 that dont work any more for other reasons.
