Games you enjoyed more from floppies

Were there any games you enjoyed more playing from floppies than installed to a harddrive, or use WHD Load? And reason?

My first example would be probably Powermonger. I was simply fascinated by a characteristic sounds of FDD during loading parts of this wonderful game.

Also I enjoyed playing SWIV from diskette - that smart loading routine impressed me.

And also cracked Turrican II with its rainbow, when it was asking for disk swapping keeps in my memory forever.

WHD Load is fantastic, but I miss something from the old times.

What about you?

I miss absolutely nothing. Disks were ok back then, but not today. WHDLoad was the reason for me to buy an A1200 again. No more crappy cracks, broken originals, disk swapping etc.

I enjoyed Multi disk games, as I daisy chained 4 external FDD and I felt like a god...

Did anyone else do lucky dip with their floppy games?
Whenever I couldn't decide upon a game I would shut my eyes, pick a disk, insert it and play whatever came up...

You could do the remove-floppy trick in SWIV to stall the scrolling

Floppy disks were certainly a pain in the arse but at the time, they were the super fast media next to a HDD

I still wouldn't say there's a specific game out there that I enjoyed using from a floppy, nope, not one

Can't say I actually like the medium itself, but loading screens can be very neat

Dunno, it's mainly about the game itself and can't really say I miss something when playing a WHDLoad game (except some cracktros maybe).

Not here. WHDLoad is an absolute blessing: No more swapping

No more broken disks

And no more waiting

I'm not a nostalgic person at all, and WHDLoad massively improves the gaming experience for me. Having said that, I still have to register WHDLoad, but I keep forgetting to do it

Championship Manager but I do like to play it now with warp and turbo mode. A full season in 1-2 hours FTW!

EDIT: Also, I miss the screeching sound my real Amstrad CPC 464 used to make when loading Football Manager II.

EDIT2: I hate management games!!!!

EOTB2 (Amiga version, obviously) was the first game I ever played from hard disk, and I've never looked back. Never understood the nostalgic attraction of floppies. It was so much quicker, and even today it remains one of my most memorable "technology upgrades", along with upgrading to HD/blu-ray, and going from tapes to CDs.

Indeed. Amigas are timeless, floppies and tapes are not

I would love to see someone create a whdload file that loads a big long list of crack intros that we could click on each one to view, that way we woulnt have the need to occasionally load that specific disk just to see that favorite crack intro! Actually i'm surprised that no-ones added their own little crack intro to each whdload game for retro realism ;-)

I remember liking the grinding of the disk for Lotus 2, it was some crack or other. However I would never chose a floppy disk over HD or whdload.

If it was not for whdload I don't think I would still be playing amiga games today.
