I have seen this thread, but I can't find any information about new products - besides some users telling 'this would be nice to have', ' I would prefer that', etc. The Facebook profile only announces there will be a product announcement... boooooring.

Yes i agree completely ultimately the project has been a victim of its own success. So successful they have to change the scale of their manufacturing.

The final price was $727 (if there are people who weren't following).

wow... $727 for a unit that is basically overriding the Amiga and makes it closer to emulation. You could just as well use WinUAE. Or even a MIST FPGA computer.

I own both MIST and a real Amiga (A1200, Indivision AGA, ACA 1233n) and I claim MIST is currently a crap.

Both image quality and audio quality of the real Amiga is far superior. MIST also suffers from several compatibility problems, and the core hasn't been updated since over half a year. Vampire core is currently actively developed, and it still uses the Amiga chipset.

BTW. Maybe the one who purchased the Vampire 500 does not have to care about the money, but wants to support the development?

I own Amiga 1200 with ACA 1233, AGA MK2, Amiga 500 with ACA 500 + ACA 1221, Amiga 600 with ACA 620 + Indi ECS + alot of other Amigas and screens.

I have more than you and know more than you x10 times and forever, and I say the Vampire is closer to emulation

Emulation or not - I haven't tried the Vampire yet, so I can't tell how it feels.

But I said: x10 and forever. So I will always have most and 'more close' to emulation will always be right. Forever and in all eternity

Getting back on topic. I personally have NO interest in a board that is NOT FPGA based. You couldn't PAY ME to run a real 060.

Why would you even want a real 060 or an even faster FPGA in the first place? To run ScummVM PC games? Isn't the point of Amiga to run Amiga software? If you make it fast like a mid 90's PC or newer you could just aswell use emulator or a real PC.

Hell, even when I'm using 020 and 030 CPU's with WHDLOAD I still think the real Amiga for me is loading floppy games from a basic Amiga 500.

But that's just my opinion. It's nice that they develop stuff for the Amiga even if not all of it is for me.

Edit: Looking back at all the stuff I've bought for my Amigas, had it been today I would probably just buy a couple of Gotek drives and only have Amiga 500s. I have A600 and A1200 but for me I don't feel the true "magic" with these. Also, AGA games are no motivation for me to own the 1200. Most classic games were made for the Amiga 500.

I have NO interest in playing old games. There are certain animation productivity apps whose workflow IS important to me.

Apps that I have never found a proper replacement for on the PC or Mac.
Apps that were specifically limited by the speed of the processor and the available memory.

In addition. I enjoy the idea of FPGA based regrettable hardware. I'm hoping for other cores at some point in the future that will turn my A500 into other vintage machine... just because.

I'm not telling you how to enjoy your hobby. I'm telling what I want for mine. The only reason I'm even here on this board is for the Vampire.

I see your points. We all have our own preferences. And the more we have to choose from the better.

Huh?
Its not overriding anything except the CPU, just like any other CPU card.
