[Found: Black Lamp] Medieval platform arcade adventure
Okay I'm looking for this game on behalf of my wife, with very sketchy details.
It's set in medieval times, and she remembers it having an upper and a lower level (she compared the view to Michael Jackson's Moonwalker on the Master System). She thinks it may have had the word 'potion' in the title but isn't sure. It involved picking up objects and carrying them, a bit like Dizzy. Okay, admission time - she played it on the ST, not Amiga - but all the other games she remembers were from the late 80s / early 90s and were released on the Amiga too, so I'm guessing this was the same. Any takers? |

Hi thanks for the responses. Apparently it was neither of these two (she said it was "less polished" than Spell Bound), but was closer visually to Tom and the Ghost than to Spell Bound.
I've suggested Slightly Magic (http://hol.abime.net/1981) and that wasn't it either, but apparently quite similar. She's also said it was quite similar visually to Gauntlet, only from the side (platform) rather than top-down. Sorry to be so vague! |

Hmmm, could it be Super Robin Hood? I used to love that game on the spectrum.
According to Wikipedia it was ported to 16bit machines as well http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Robin_Hood |

I know spellbound has been mentioned but maybe it was this variation?

It is Black Lamp! Wow that's an obscure one, never heard of it.
Now I just need to work out how to use an ST emulator to get it working... |

Hmm, why don't you let your wife try the Amiga version? Can't be worse than the ST one...

You know, I might do... only thing is, one of the other games she remembers playing was the original Gauntlet, which for some reason I don't think was released on the Amiga?

Gauntlet wasn't released on the Miggy (2 was though), but Black Lamp should be almost the same (except for the music I guess).

Turns out in fact it was Gauntlet 2 any way... she got the Atari ST Power Pack compilation which actually included some good games. Anyways, think I'll just get hold of the Amiga versions.
Thanks everyone for your help! |

Just checked out the link to Black Lamp.
Man that's one garishly coloured game - the screenshots hurt my eyes. And surely the princess in the "My Hero" screenshot deserves a place in the Ugly Women Of Amiga Games thread... Maybe not top ten but perhaps top 11...? |
