Curiosity: CD32 rom 40.56
I've been sent a CD32 to recap and was very surprised to see it had kickstart 40.56 instead of the usual 40.60, and it's a regular production model. Although a very early one, I suspect.
Anyone knows what are the differences between 40.56 and 40.60? |

I made an adapter for 42 pin EPROMs on my burner. It is a simple 1:1 socket, with an additional socket leg connected to a switch that connects that leg to ground or voltage depending on position.

TempIDE is for the HDD controller on the CD32 debug board.
I imagine they are incompatible because 40.60 does not work with the debug board HDD controller. |

it should be dumped for preservation.
it's incredibly easy to dump an 8Mbit EPROM with a cheap ZIF40 eprom programmer. With the top 2 pins overhanging the ZIF socket (i.e. not connected).... Step 1: tie pin 1 (A18) to pin 12 (Ground) and read it as ST M27C400 (same chip as can be used in A500/A2000 etc). Step 2: tie pin 1 (A18) to pin 22 (VCC) and read it. Step 3: at a command prompt join the 2 pieces with copy /b dump1.bin + dump2.bin realdump.bin the different dumps might need to be switched (dump2 + dump1). the correct first part has some text "COMMODORE" etc. Step 4: submit it to Winuae author and MAMEDEV so it does not disappear. |

You could get a copy of the Network CD which was sold by Weird Science. Along with a serial cable, you boot the CD32 with that disc, and can transfer files to/from another Amiga.
