Microbotics Starboard 2 for A500
I have this quite rare board for the A500. Most of you know this version which is for the A1000. Mine comes with the upper deck and stardrive module. But I cannot get it to work. I think mine needs an AC adaptor as it has a port on the back. Unfortunately, I do not have the adaptor. Anyone have any info on this board? What type of adaptor do I need for it? I don't think it is marked as to what volt it requires...

@TJ: can you read the voltages on the connector with the expansion attached on the side of the A500? I bet the board needs just 5V, up to 2A.

Or a picture of the board where the power goes, maybe then we could tell from the components on the board. It may even be marked.

I opened up the board and here are some pics, I did not want to dismantle further as the connectors are brittle and a corner of the connector already broke! There are no markings, and I also tried a 5V 2.5a DC adaptor and it did not work. When I power up A500 with this installed and no power supply the red LED on the StarBoard2 will flash.
Edit: I tried a DC6V and it now boots (does not boot otherwise and red LED flashed on SB2) and red LED stays on! BUT no mem is mapping at all and I cannot "version stardrive.device"...... Last edited by TjLaZer; 06 October 2023 at 04:14. |

I miss those pictures, chap.
Can you detach the upper deck board and take a zoomed picture of the power connector area? Any jumper on the base board? |

We need pictures of the lowest board, also any marking on the back or underside, randomly plugging in various power supplies will result in kaboom.

@TjLaZer
you know better than to plug in any-ol plugpack! really need a close up of the writing of those black caps from Mexico I think you will need a 9v OR 12v DC plug pack (1-2amps), please for the love of anything holy DONT try it without posting a pic on here to confirm. if you do... you are likely to TOAST the whole thing. so c'mon get the hardware Pr0n out |
